Perk will get suspended because the hit was above the shoulder, in the neck area.  The NBA has been consistent about this.

But it was clearly unintentional.

A suspension is only warranted if it is intentional.

No one on the ESPN boards has even mentioned a suspension of PErkins as a possibility. And they love to hate on the Celtics.

Kobe wasn't suspended for doing something similar - arguably unintended contact above the shoulders.  This wasn't Perk swinging an elbow and catching Pietrus on the neck or something.  He just had his arm out, wasn't looking, and edged into Pietrus, and Pietrus sold it well.  Perk wasn't ejected, he shouldn't have been, and he won't be suspended.

The end.

come in, that was a soccer style flop.

i agree - the defender threw his head back like he had been hit by a truck ...... big flop sell on that one. also, what perkins did was actually textbook defense - minus the force of his forearm, of course ....... i didn't even think it deserved a technical.

I just saw Vujacic come flying at a guy, grabbed him around the head as he knocked him karate style out of bounds and it wasn't even a flagrant.  Perk's foul shouldn't warrant a suspension.  It wasn't intentional.  He got a flagrant 1 called and that should be it.

I don't entirely agree with Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson, who defended that the refs should have called an offensive foul on Wafer, but there's no way it was a flagrant on Vujacic. Von Wafer got out of his way to put himself under where Vujacic was going to land. Players can't just throw themselves under guys who are in the air and then want flagrants called when they land on them.

I Kobe didn't get a suspension there is now way Perk should. Kobe actually swung, Perk just had his elbow out and was moving in the area towards the player.

Orlando is NOT the better team.

The problem is that this team is wildly inconsistent without KG. You never know what you're going to get from night to night.

This team loses about 85% of it's focus and intensity without KG on the court, it's a completely different team.

With KG, we beat Chicago 4-1, worst and we sweep Orlando, maybe they squeak out one win as well. Maybe...

Wittout KG these guys come out playing like chics half of the nights and playign like they should the other half.

It's amusing to hear you Bean Town fans justify your players cheap, thug fouls when it's your team getting screwed by the leaque.  Perkins foul was "cowardly" and a lot worse than the foul that moved House's headband.  Give me a break!!! A suspension is definitely in order.  And how about the other cheap fouls like when big fat baby intentionally lands on top of Hedo after he get fouled on a drive.  And the bogus 5th foul on Dwight Howard when the give driving by him hooks him around the leg with his arm and Howard gets called for the foul.  Face it guys, the Celts can't beat the Magic this year without help from the refs.

This is the correct answer. Our only hope when this happens is that KG can play Sunday, but even he is not strong enough to guard Howard. And, he is not going to play.

while i think perk might indeed be suspended for game 4, i think its not so easy a case. you could argue the contact was almost accidental - perk should have put his forearm down, but it seems a lot more incidental than anything. plus, yeah, pietrus flopped big time. he might still get suspended (technically, he did hit him above the shoulder), but they do interpret these things, so i think there's a decent chance he won't.

If you think Perk will/should get suspended you obviously didn't watch the clip, or you just don't know the rules.
