If we did buy a late 1sr rd draft pick, who would you want? (merged)

If we got a pick later in the first round or early in the 2nd we could go for one of the following:

DeJuan Blair, Austin Daye, Danny Green, Nick Calathes. 

Hansbrough wouldn't be bad either.  Lawson would be awesome but I think he's gonna be in the lottery or just after it.

i always liked unc but i have'nt watched college hoops much in years. when i saw hansborough i could'nt believe what he was getting away with. i respect the heck out of a guy that works that hard but just thought he was constantly fouling. am i way off on this? will he get the respect from the officials to play that way? if so i'd be pretty psyched.

I've been hoping we could buy a high 2nd rd pick to steal Green - I sincerely think he could contribute next year backing up Pierce.  His only issue is he's kind of a goof-off, not a bad attitude but just carefree.  A 2nd would probably be cheaper than a mid- to low-1st rd pick, making it more cost-effective as well.

Of course, Walker and Giddens on the squad probably ensures we don't go that route, but this model gives a little evidence that he could be a steal.

giddens will be a toss-in in a trade by mid-season. i'm gonna go Mo Williams on you and guar-on-tee it.

I agree. Hansborough is one of my most hated college players this year... mostly because of how much he got away with and how good everyone thought he was.


I think Blair would probably be gone, but I think hes gonna turn out a lot like Big Baby.

I think Blair will go too early - I consider anything in the teens too early for buying a pick purposes, and think we could only really buy something at 24 or higher. 

I like DeMarre Carroll (I've been talking about him for a while now - needs to improve his outside shot but great leadership qualities and all the makings of a 3/4 defensive stopper in the Posey mold), Danny Green and Darren Collison. Maybe Austin Daye.

I'm telling you guys this draft is NOT weak... there is one superstar then about 25-30 future NBA starters after that. At 21 if you could get Sam Young you have a wing player with all-star potential. Same with Danny Green...Taj Gibson? Lawson? Mills? Lots of guys I like out there.

Rubio will be a BIGTIME bust though...can't wait to see his career fall flat on it's face!

Anytime you can buy a pick and there is a player there of value, take it.

Thats who I want the C's to take. His knocks are that he doesnt shoot too well. He shot 2pointers at 43% (not terrible but not good), and 38.5% for 3s which is not that bad compared to people getting picked WAYYYY earlier. His FTs are bad at 58%, but so is Rondo's. And it seems like Rondo hits his FTs when he NEEDS to. He reminds me of...I know CBers are going to cringe when I say this but.....a better, taller, more under control Tony Allen. At 6'6"(not 6'8 ) he has the size to guard SFs and the speed to guard SGs. Heres a little video to get you amped on him....

That looks alright but we already have two young guys who are athletic and great dunkers...I'd like to see us draft somebody either with a more full skill set or at least with other qualities...like a long guy who can maybe become a defensive stopper or a guy who actually is a really good shooter.

I feel as though he is more complete than Giddens, and close to Bill Walker. What I can say, is that he can create better than Walker and JR off the dribble. I want Bill Walker to stay, but maybe package JR and a future first rounder to select Williams who i think is more complete.

If he falls to 21, I'd love to get the pick from the Hornets and take Daye.  I think he's a good gamble with a lot of upside.  There's a good chance he goes earlier than that, but with the plethora of solid PGs and the fact that Daye will need to bulk up considerably before he can produce a lot in the NBA, I think he might fall to later in the first round.  I'd love to get Daye.
