i expected a letdown from Rondo last night and it didn't happen.  If we get out of this series, do you figure Orlando's defense will bring Rondo back down to human level?   There is no way Rondo actually turned into the best player in the league over night.  It's the way Chicago is playing him, right?

And in case you were wondering, here it is with the blowout win removed:

   Total +/-...   Per Game
Pierce   21...   5.25
Davis   36...   9
Perk   20...   5
Allen   16...   4
Rondo   29...   7.25
Marbury   -37...   -9.25
Scal   -2...   -0.5
House   -11...   -2.75
Tony   -24...   -6
Moore   -32...   -8
Pruitt   0...   0
Walker   0...   0
Powe   -16...   -4

This really illustrates the ineffectiveness of the bench play. All starters in the plus, while every bench player in the minus. I have been so disappointed in tthe bench play but there are a few guys there (Marbury, House) whose confidence is really low right now. Maybe all it will take, at least for Eddie is one big game to get some consistent production.

Marbury needs minutes to get in the flow. Unfortunately to get minutes he needs to earn Doc's trust. He has been playing good defense but he cannot be effective playing 10-15 min. per game.

Also, to answer the OP, Rondo is playing the PG position unlike anyone else in this playoffs so far. Lebby and Kobe are playing the SF position unlike anyone else in the playoffs (Maybe Wade is up there too). I for one put more importance on the PG position especially since he is also playing the other team's best player right now in Rose on D.

LeBron has been better.  LeBron's got 8 more points and 1 more rebound... 3 less assists and 1 less steal.

Dwight Howard has been incredible too... 24 points, 15.8 rebounds, 2.8 blocks... but 68% shooting adds a lot.

And both those guys are playing less minutes.

But who cares... Rondo has been incredible.  It's crazy that he's even up there with those guys so far.  I just really need to see him play like this against more than one team to really determine if he's "better than we think".   I could see him putting up Jason Kidd numbers at some point in his career, though.  16-17 points, 9-10 assists and 6 rebounds.

And that would be fantastic.

I like this list:  http://www.nba.com/statistics/player/Efficiency.jsp?league=00&conf=OVERALL&position=0&splitType=9splitScope=GAME&qualified=N&yearsExp=-1&splitDD=All%20Teams

Points + Rebounds + Assists + steals + blocks ... subtract missed shots and turnovers.  Pretty simple.  Rondo's #2

Great players elevate their game in the playoffs - Rondo is introducing us all to his greatness.

And as for LeBronnie baby scoring more points and having less assists, he hardly plays with scorers of the caliber that Rondo does.

Apples to oranges but consider that there are a lot of swingmen that give you 85-90% of what LeBron brings to the table (We have one that is 95% in Pierce) BUT how many point guards are in the league that can give you 90% of Rondo?

By the way this is why you pick Dwight Howard first if you re-draft the NBA, but that's another discussion.
Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing

Are you OK with the fact that the next highest Celtic on this scale is Baby? After all, he is a scrub.  ;)
