I would give Bay a 5 year 50 million dollar deal.

He should certainly get as much if not more than Milton Bradley of the Cubs.

I live in NY and don't watch the Red Sox that much (I don't get comcast for Baseball, only for Celts games) but boy was it funny to watch everyone at college today wearing Yankee jerseys. I <3 Boston  :-*
True Celtic = Leon Powe

Bring back the show!!!!

The best thing about Bay so far is that he's so much more patient.  He has 20 walks compared to only 12 strike outs.  In his 49 games with the Sox last year, he had 22 walks and 51 strikeouts.  If he stays this patient at the plate, he'll have a GREAT year.  I was a huge Manny fan, but as long as Bay is this patient at the plate, he'll be fine in replacing him.  In my opinion, this team is by far the best team in the league.  Even if you add A-Rod to the yanks.  The Sox offense is just as good.  The Yankees are a more powerful lineup, but the Sox have a lot of pesky guys.  The Yanks bullpen is trash, while I'd say the Sox pen is the best in the league.  If they could win again this year, they'd really be able to put themselves in the dynasty discussion.

the best thing about him is:

Jason Bay is now 10 for 20 (.500) with 4 homers and 10 RBIs from the seventh inning on this season. Now that's clutch.

I do need Manny. I find myself less and less interested with the Red Sox each day he's gone.

Seriously.  Such a bummer.  By the way, I hate Brad Penny.

Yeh, he seems likely to be the first to go when Dice K or Smoltz are ready.  He was signed on the cheap.

And for good reason.  At his best, he specializes in pitching half-seasons, melting down and not being much of a teammate.

Happy to be rid of him.

I'm not even waiting for Dice-K or Smoltz to be ready.  I'd bring up Buchholz.  It will be valuable experience for him, while you don't know what's going to happen to Wakefield and Smoltz's arms come September, they are getting old and the Sox need Masterson in the pen come September as the long relief guy.  Lot of people are talking about Penny is throwing 95, well, regardless of whether he is throwing hard or not, he's not hitting any location.  There's a lot of guys in the league who can throw 94-95 and not hit the spots it needs to be, he'd be better suited throwing 90 and hitting the right spots.
