To all of you who keep begging for playing time for Tony Allen, please stop it.

The man gets lost defensively on the Gordon play BEFORE THE BALL IS INBOUNDED. Rudimentary junior high stuff and Allen with his limited attention span cannot execute it.

Nah.

Allen's in the game to prevent Gordon from a decent look - which his apologists say he does all the time - and the guy's lost before the ball even comes inbounds.

The myth of Allen's great defense is one of this blog's biggest. He is VASTLY overrated as a defender.

You're both right.  Tony got lost and looked horrible, but he did recover to get a hand in Gordon's face.  It was an incredible shot.  However, it wasn't great defense by Tony on that possession.

He doesn't get the shot at all if Allen's ready when the ball is inbounded. Inexcusably dumb defense.

We've got to have more production, and more basketball intelligence, out of that position next year.

Gordon Waved TA's arm away, which is an offensive foull, you know you saw it in replay...the ref didn't, it was pretty good D...I am NOT arguing for or against TA, just what happened there.

I recall reading on this board frequently last summer how much better off we'd be with TA over that other fella who we wouldn't pay to stay here.

Uh, no.

Finding a quality three to replace TA is a top priority in the off-season.

I hate TA as much as the next guy but it was an offensive foul on Gordon.

As a basketball player, he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, to put it gently. Good tools, decent instincts, but he lacks smarts and the ability to keep the focus every minute on the floor. He's already a 27 yrs old, 4 year veteran, that aspect of his game won't suddenly change.

If that had been called an offensive foul, VDN would have been within his rights to blow his cork. I would have, to be sure. That's just an excuse for yet another stupid play by a guy whose career - and life - are marked by them. He's Gerald Green, intelligence-wise, and we have to have better than that off the bench next year.

I have no idea whatsoever where you came up with that post.

Of course, Gordon is a tough matchup.

However, it wasn't the greatness of Ben Gordon that induced Allen to go to sleep on him twice defensively, and then go to the bench where he belongs. He was totally unprepared for the inbounds on the first possession in question, and he offered up a lazy matador reach the second time. Not even close to good enough.

The guy is not a great defender, despite substantial effort on this blog to fabricate him into one. The reason, frankly, is because he's not terribly basketball intellgent.

If he cannot come into a game and stay mentally alert in one end-of-game possession, then he's of no use to us. There's a very good reason why this guy never sees the court.

I can't figure where you come up with your posts either. You're not happy unless your criticizing something like the fact that Tony messed up on Gordon. You make is sound like it's easy and if you've been watching the games you would know that it isn't.  The C's had this game and let it go. I think if there's criticism due it is that Pierce played slow and lazy and forced too much.
