Its a tough deal either way, but what is the fair assessment of how fans should feel about it?

If I was there, I would raise absolute heck screaming for Scal when he enters the game.

I hope they start him in game 5.

  • The good ole days.
I'm not sure if you are insinuating it, but it's something I've read plenty already, that is - KG could play through the pain but just doesn't want to.

If so, I really cannot believe it.  If it was solely his decision to play or not, he'd probably have been back weeks ago.

if you told KG, we're going to amputate your legs and give you these:

he'd do it, just so he could play

I hope Scal is eased back in - I know even taking a few days off from playing messes your timing, over a month, its gonna be tough - I do think the Boston faithful realize his value to this team now though, and hopefully the only Scal chants we hear are AFTER something big happens, not taunting him to take a 3.....

but on the medical side, concussions are scary, so I do hope his clearance suggests he's not at risk

I no, I am not going that far at all. I don't know what to think about KG except that i keep praying, but I do know Scal may actually be playing, and he has risks that may well be far greater. We should hope scal gets his due, that is about all we can know.

exactly, its one thing to never be able to walk again if god forbid you get hurt in a physical way - its another to never be able to think again properly or deal with light or motion - things concussions can lead to (and even death in some cases)

Scal shouldnt be playing...The chance of serious permanent injury is too strong (without seeing his med records...who really knows, but based on reports)

I dont believe KG should play either, because if it was medically advisable, he would.

But Scal is risking permanent injury

Do we know that Scal hasn't been working out etc...I thought his condition mainly kept him from playing in contact situations where the injury might be exacerbated...not that he couldn't practice to keep in shape / shooting etc.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

So he should be more or less in playing shape, hopefully.

But Scal is risking permanent injury
From what I've read Scal's risk once he's asymptomatic won't decrease. Concussions have a cumulative effect. So unless you think he should retire right now I don't see why he shouldn't play.

It is his decision and he's obviously consulted doctor's and they have taken the situation seriously.

Technically speaking, the answer is obvious - Scal risks more. Concussions can lead to permanent brain injuries and death, while a messed up knee can at worst lead to the end of a career. And that's not to bash KG's toughness or question Scal's decision to return to action, it's merely the fact of the matter.

Depends.  We don't really know how bad the injuries for Scal or KG are.  Do we really know if one more blow to the head will permanently damage Scal?  Until we do, we don't know who risks more.

Exactly. If it he really was one blow away from serious immediate damage I can't believe they'd clear him to play.
