I know the Portland team is
going to be called the Maine
Red Claws, as a tribute to a
certain mr. Auerbach and also
because, well, the lobster
industry is apparently big there.

I like the name. I do.
If that's not giving back
to the history of this game
call me silly. I like it.

I wish I lived closer to Springfield.  $91 for season tickets, how can you turn that down?

That is the best name in professional sports, bar none.

Where's the $91 season tickets come from?  That's not bad; I'm still a good hour+ from Springfield, but I could make it down fairly often.

It looks like it is just a name the guy who wrote that article made up. Nothing official.

Well, you made it sound like it was official!

We need to make sure that becomes the [dang] name - that's the best name in sports, bar none.  C'mon, how freakin' cool are the Peach Baskets?

I am absolutely IN LOVE with this idea. I was born and raised in the Springfield area, and still live here. Although I am a little upset they won't be affiliates with the Celtics, this should definately give us people from around here something to do on Friday and Saturday nights besides that AWFUL downtown they have. We have the Springfield Falcons, but they suck and they're boring...

Peach Baskets? hahaha that would be classic, but it sounds a little wierd

Weird, yes.

But look at this pic:

The name would be perfect in
celebrating the history of
basketball and a huge hat tip
to Dr. Naismith.

Haha, yeah, but what is "normal" is a league with the "Red Claws", the "14ers", the "Valley Vipers", the "Sky Force", and the "Mad Ants"?
