I haven't seen him play much, but his rate stats are fantastic -- 11 rebounds and over 4 blocks per 36 minutes, his TS% is 60 this year, his EFG% is 55. I suspect he could have really added something to this team... obviously, that ship sailed long ago.

I don't know. I'm not a fan of his overly aggressive approach to shot blocking. He probably gave up as many points to layups and free throws because he was trying to swat everything and he was actually keeping track of the number of blocks last night. Its the same problem I have with Steve Nash and taking charges. These things compliment playing good defense they can't be the foundation.

exactly - always a pleasure to read a post by someone who understands the game.

I wanted us to sign him. He always had great energy for defnese and rebounding. I thought Thibodeau may have been able to turn him into even a better defender over the course of a year. After we lost Posey, my two guys were Birdman and Matt Barnes. WE didn't need superstars, just good solid role players.

But the main reason I thought he would have been a good fit on this team?

If you can imagine any other player in the league with more "crazy energy" when he plays than Garnett, it might be Birdman. It may a didfffernet energy, but he's out of it when he's on the court.

I really thought KG and Birdman together would have really fed off each other big time and also thought their combined emotional energy would have been off the hook with the crowd, which wouyld be awsome. He would have been a huge fan favorite.

That is a very good thing. He would have gotten KG and crowd going, the crowd would get them going...it would have a been a frenzy of energy, in a good way.

I really wanted the guy, especially having confidence that Tom T. could have maximized his defensive energy.

I never thought he should have been passed over because the deep bench gamble should be the one with the highest possible payoff on a team of this quality, I thought he was that man. But then again, Danny's track record speaks for itself, he saw something, that's enough for me.

Actually, his FA track record is pretty spotty.  He does much better in drafts and trades.
