Pierce is just playing a different game than he was several years ago and it started last year. He is now more defense oriented, he fills in the gaps of what is needed in a particular game or situation whether it be scoring, rebounding, passing, setting picks, etc. I think he's always had these skills and has tried to use them in the past, but was forced, in the past, to concentrate on offense.

Personally, I liked Pierce's cuddly love handles but he looks good thin too. His game was looking a little flabby though -- until recently -- & his post-game comments seemed to reflect some discouragement about how things were stacking up against the Celtics.  He seems to have worked through it. The Truth hurts, but he usually doesn't show it.

Doc better rest him and polish him up for the post season soon, we're going to really need him to come up big for us once more.

The C's have a lot of days off, home games, and games against weak opponents in the last 3 weeks of the season.  I have a feeling once KG and Ray are back to full strength in the next week to week in a half, you will see Pierce's minutes drop significantly, and none of them will average more than 32-33 minutes in April (and they may also sit out a game or two).

But for this next week or so, I would expect Pierce to be playing somewhere between 36-42 minutes per game, while KG is still getting his legs under him.

With all this talk of Paul's weight, I give you this fictional quote from the locker room:

"KG, does this championship ring make me look fat?"
