Not one Boston sports team leads their respected league in salary, and they are all filled with young players that they drafted and developed. its not like we have the obnoxious players like the Yankees, we don't go out and sign the big name players every year. I want the Celtics to be JUST like the Red Sox and The Patriots.

and Boston sports fans ARE very knowledgeable. There are 8 year old girls that know more about baseball then some season ticket holders in other cities.

Well, I had a 20+ year old girl decked out in Red Sox gear at Fenway tell me that Jason Varitek was infinitely better than Joe Mauer.  I believe their respective batting averages at the time were .217 and .370 or so (and late in the season)...

My point?  There are extreme outliers on either side, with any team.

Was this girl heavily intoxicated????

No, but I do honestly think she had a slight mental retardation.  (Not saying that insultingly.)

Oh ok, so she was a pink hatter. Nothing new. :)

Every major sports town on the East coast (NY, Bos, Phil, DC and even Balt) were all the same in terms of fans.

I am sure this is the same in other cities around the country (I don't know because these are the Cities that I have lived near)

So don't complain about a certain slice of Boston fans as if they are special only to Boston.  You will find the same type of fans elsewhere, but to a worse level (Mets Philly fans)

Fixed it for ya. ;)

Ha.  I'm actually with wdleehi - I hate the Yankees as a team, but I revel in failure for the Metropolitans because their fan base easily tops my list for general annoyance right now.  Combine the high-degree baseball illiteracy with the overriding little brother complex surrounding the Yanks (in the bottom of the ninth of a tie game I was at against San Francisco, the fans started a "Yankees suck!" chant because they were scoreboard watching and saw the Yanks go down 1-0 in the middle innings rather than paying attention to their team), and you've got a fan base fiasco.  Ugh.

And Chris, agreed all the way about the wave - although I don't even have any tolerance for it at baseball games.  Just a nuisance.

It's the "pink hats" that make teams want to be winners. So stop complaining about it. I follow the team year and and out - but it's been alot more fun lately. Some "hardcore" fans actually prefer a loser though because they feel special rooting for the team.

in my opinion there was no bigger boston celtic basher then a die hard red sox fan. this is just my experience but sox fans laughed at celts fans for years. i can always spot a sox fan(celtic bandwagoner/former celtic trasher). they're the losers more concerened with trashing an opposing player or what city the team is from than what the score of the game is. they're the people screaming louder for david ortiz holding up the ball for lucky at halftime. that dropkick murphy's sonmg is catchy but i really hate that the celts adopted it too. i want no connection between the celts and red sox.

Hahahaha.

As a diehard Cardinals fan - girding himself for a terrible season - anyone who hates the Mets is OK by me, Steve. TP to you.

Terrible fan base, having seen the Mets in both Shea and Busch. Plus, no sense of humor among the players.

Can you imagine Darryl Strawberry flaring up at the rendition of a Coke jingle in the right field bleachers?

As for the wave, it's an abomination. Happens all the time at OU football games. Makes me crazy.
