I'd let him walk if he didn't want the min.  Cs will already have a really high team salary, and I wouldn't be surprised if they do some real bargain hunting.

If he has those averages and we win #18, I'll be happy and there is no way he won't want more money.  I think Ainge and everyone else in the organization would tell him thank you and enjoy your new contract elsewhere.  Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

eh... too many hypotheticals.  If Marbury actually came here and we won a title with him making significant contributions and fitting in, obviously people on this board would say we need to resign him.   If the overrating of James Posey on this board is any indication... anything less than resigning a championship-contributing Stephon Marbury (for MLE or whatever) would be considered a massive offseason failure.

Highly unlikely

2 reasons:

1) He'll want too much money
2) He'll want to start and there are plenty of teams in the league that he could start for.

I don't believe he'd want to start... well maybe he'd want to, but he would already know that if he signs with Boston Rondo is the starter.

Don't get me wrong.  I think he makes good and eats backup minutes short term this year as a good citizen, but long term he'll want to start because he believes he is a star (and he has reason to), so I think beyond this year he'll take more  money and start for another team, (he could start in Miami, probably Cleveland, and several other teams right now) him staying here as a backup would surprise me a WHOLE lot.
