The talks may start now whether or not Moore should start for KG while he's out.

What I find humorous is that I'd much rather have Scal start for KG while he's out.

If Mikki Moore is suppose to replace the roll of PJ Brown from last years playoffs team, we have reason to be scared.

The funniest part about this post (and im not picking it because you made it GPD, just because it made me smile thinking of last year) is that up until PJ hit that jumper in clevland and picked it up going forward, a good percentage of this blog was convinced he was a failure and shouldnt be stealing minutes from Powe/Baby.

Not in any way trying to say that moore is as good as PJ (he isn't in the slightest) but trust me, no one was like "omg we got PJ brown, bring on banner 17!!!!" exceited back then either. I'm willing to see If moore can blow my admittedly low expectations for him away.

There's no way they're gonna throw this guy out as a starter on Day 1 with a new team.  He'll get a few more minutes than he otherwise would've, but he'll get worked in slowly just like PJ was.

I haven't seen this confirmed anywhere else... But even if it is true I can't say I'm thrilled.  The only immediately good thing I can think of is that this might allow Scal to move to the 3 and PP can play less minutes.

Also, the Moore-Blount comparison is NOT encouraging.

I think Pau Gasol would take Mikki Moore's lunch money every day of the week.

Moore doesn't help us against the contenders, but he may bring some offense off the bench.

I think when push comes to shove Gasol is the shovee, not the shover.

he's a bought out bench big, as i posted above, he's a body. Until he came up huge in the playoffs, alot of the blog thought PJ brown signing was meh at best.

no ones buying out ben wallace so he can come off our bench people. In hindsight, we should have signed deke instead of waiting for joe smith to shake out, which wouldn't be that much, if any of an upgrade over deke.

Also, joe smith has become just a tad overated around here. I know his jumpshot was mighty scary in the series last year, but he's a decent-good bench big, not the second coming.

He would have been better than moore though, by a fair margin.

I wouldn't worry about the Blount comparison with regards to rebounding and shot blocking (or lack there of).

Blount's attitude and work ethic are what rubbed me wrong. Mikki Moore has a good attitude, works hard, is a good teammate and doesn't try to go outside of his abilities.

Heck, if Blount minus the attitude were available for the minimum, i'd sign him in a heart beat.

I like this signing. (Also for those wishing for Mutombo... If he was still good why isn't Houston playing him?)

Do you guys really think danny will have any kind of moral objection to cutting moore if smith becomes avaliable?

I know its not the best way to do business but we are looking to win a championship with our window closing.

Also what makes you guys think that anything has changed on the smith front, i have thought since the begining they were going to sign moore as a back up plan, just because it got leaked today doesn't mean anything. Its not like moore's been a free agent all season and danny is conceding out of no where that smith won't be bought out.

I don't understand where all the negativity is coming from. I get it, james posey was really good and we miss him, but we need a decent back up big man, mikki moore fits the bill and we're getting him for nothing, we can't expecta impact player to just pop up when we need him. Sure he's not ideal, but this is the best thing danny could do.

The last thing we need is for moore to go and help out the lakers, or cavs, and we're stuck with nothing. But even if smith does get bought out we just drop moore and im sure he'd be fine going to yet another one of the playoff teams needing some front court help.

Also if stephon doesn't get bought out, what would it hurt to have 6 big men, depth never hurt anyone. I know smith probably wouldn't wanna fight for minutes with moore. But guess guess what. He wouldn't. Doc would play the best players avaliable.

Moores not that great but i just don't think there is a justification for all the negativity this signing is bringing.

Gasol has worked really hard at being more physical and I don't think we'll see the same Pau Gasol we saw last June. He's still no match for KG but theres no way Mikki Moore can handle him. Moore isn't very strong and that makes him a poor rebounder and defender.

I think he takes some of BBD's time due to being able to truly knock down that jumper with consistency. He will be a much better fit with Powe and allow him to man that box while allowing us to spread the floor. Teams can't allow him to shoot the jumper like they could BBD. Against a stronger bigger Center BBD can come in and man up better. I wouldn't mind making a run at Smith still, because if we signed him AND Marbury you could just let Gabe go. I think he is definitely an improvement over POB though. Didn't cost us much. Nothing too exciting though. Hopefully we are all surprised.

Pau does however like to shoot the hook shot which BBD and Powe can not defend due to their  short stature. Mikki will at least force Pau to shoot it a little higher and have a chance at getting him out of his groove a bit that neither of the other two could. If Pau decides to go at the rim harder then Mikki is no match strength wise.

from seeing the little video of Mikki he looks like a Euro big to me, a great jumper but nothing inside.

I think that is right.  He will probably play PF and Powe/BBD Center.  I am not *that* worried by Moore's inability to grab a rebound -- Leon does a pretty good job of that, as do other people on the team.  Over the next few games, we'll see what Moore can do.  Assuming Smith is not bought out, worst case scenario is Moore gets 0PT in games.
