I think he's perfect for the Knicks system, which has probably inflated his numbers.  He's a talented player for sure but I don't know if he's quite that dub-dub machine on another team.  Knicks don't have any other good rebounders really so that leaves a lot of opportunity.

I think he is a starting caliber center on a championship team.

yes but he hustles like a madman for each one of them, thats why i say he can be that good in any team, hes a 6 11 powe from time to time with better post game most people here in CB would call that superstar material.

Powe with a better post game is a superstar?  I don't think so.  This is what happened to Elton Brand.  Good garbage bigs are valuable.  Teams need them and they can be very useful but they are not superstars.

Elton Brand was a great garbage big and showed some ability to score and suddenly everyone thought he was an amazing talent.  What did that lead to?  A big contract in Philly and a rapidly declining career.  David Lee will be the same type player I think.  A really great third or fourth fiddle but not a super star.

David Lee is a good player but lets not blow it out of proportion.

Be interesting to see what kind of money he gets offered this summer.  Usually he'd be looking at what, $8M per for three or four years, maybe a litle more?  Combination of a horrible economy and no one wanting to screw up their 2010 cap space might put a serious damper on what kind of offer he gets.  NY won't resign him, we know that they want enough cap space for LeBron and another max contract.  But, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't get offered much more than a nice MLE-level contract, given the dynamics of this summer's particular marketplace.

Could be a lot of bargains available for teams that are willing to spend some money and that are selling out their arenas.

I think he will probably still get in the 10 mill range over 4-5 years. He has proven to be a solid, consistent player. By all reports, he is the only player other teams call the Knicks about when looking at trades. If the Knicks weren't planning on at least thinking about keeping him, wouldn't they have traded him away for a solid first round pick (at the very least)?

Who's going to offer that money, though?  Teams that would traditionally be spenders (like New York) are saving every ounce of ammunition for 2010.  Teams that will have cap space like Memphis aren't going to be spending in this kind of economy - especially for a guy like Lee who might help you win a few games but isn't going to sell you any tickets.  Yuo might spend a little for someone like Iverson, since he'll help your gate reciepts, but someone like Lee?  It's the worst possible time for him to become a free agent.

Now, it only takes one team to be stupid, but I wouldn't be shocked in the least if guys who are going into this offseason thinking $8M - $10M annually - guys like Lee and Ben Gordon - find that the money just isn't there.

He can be a starting power forward on a great team...if the starting center is great defensively to cover for Lee's defensive inadequacy.  Lee hustles but every time I see him play people keep blowing by him like he's in quicksand.

Elton Brand a garbage man?  Come on.  This guy is a career 20-10 guy with a lot of skill.  Elton Brand would be a GREAT number 2 guy on a lot of teams.  Remember, when the Clippers put a little bit of talent around him, he did bring him to the playoffs.  Also, I don't really think Brand is a tweener.  He's 6'8 but with the length of a 7 footer.  I remember they had him and Kaman stand next to each other and put their arms up and they had the same standing reach.  Brand has had 2 injury plagued seasons, I'm not sure we can say he's rapid decline.  I don't really feel as if he's lost his skill, I just believe he's had bad luck.  If he's injured again next year, then maybe you can say it then, but as of now, I think he'll come back healthy next year and still be a player.
