All others pale, though Perfect Strangers is also one of my favs.  I was in Chicago recently walking by Wrigley and stopped in my tracks and asked my fr4iend, "Is there a subway entrance around here?"  She said yes and asked me why.  If you know the show's intro, you know my answer.

For the All Time list, I have do decide amongst shows that I really liked at that time and not necessarily anymore:

Fresh Prince
South Park
Simpsons
Drew Carey Show/In Living Color
Futurama

Honorable Mention: Married with Children, Dave Chappelle, Friends, Full House (hey, at the time I thought Steph was really cute)

HOF Invitees in a few years: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Family Guy (the older seasons)
Baby Jesus!

My personal top 5

Soap
Married with Children
In Living Color (not a sitcom but definitely comedy)
That 70's Show
Men Behaving Badly  (1st season only)
and if in Living Color can't be counted, then Scrubs.

None would probably crack the top 5 on a critics list but they always made me laugh.

I know some people will disagree, but with Family Guy I thought it was very much like Kurt Warner's career.

It started out a little unknown, but then it heated up really quickly.  The comedy introduced on the first seasons before it got canceled were absolutely amazing, not genious but incredibly creative.  Stuff that I would've never thought of.

Then they retired and brought back to life, but nothing above mediocricy.  Like Warner jumping around in teams, I never thought the new seasons really stuck.  These last season has been a bit better but still not even close to before.  That's why I am not sure if it deserves to be on my HOF list.

what are people's top 5 comedies?

mine (in no order)

-fresh prince of bel air
-cosby show
-seinfeld
-roseanne
-big bang theory

*leave it to beaver is a close behind

Man, I know you really like it, and you're entitled to your opinion, but The Big Bang Theory? If you're talking about today, then I don't really care either way, but there's a lot of past comedies that you've got to give some respect to over The Big Bang Theory.

I would say, if a current show is going to be included on this list, it has to be either the Simpsons or the Office.

The Big Bang Theory has got to be the TOP 5 LAMEST shows of all time.

There is no science. There is no humor. You learn nothing. There is not even the obligatory eye candy to distract you as your IQ plummets. In fact, there is no banging going on at all in the Big Bang. Any way you look at it, it's flat out false advertisement.

Yoda: Non-existent is the force with this show.

Tops (no order):
Taxi
Seinfeld
Office
Andy Griffith
MTM
Soap
All in the Family
It's Garry Shandling's Show (or whatever it was called)

Worst (must be long-running -- no 1-season flops -- and must have seen at least 3 epoisodes to qualify):
Married with Children (never understood the appeal of this one)
One Day at a Time (though Valerie was cute)
Alice (an abomination)
Flo (Person with the idea to spin this off from Alice can kiss my grits)
Three's Company (Same theme almost every show; almost destroyed the memory of Barney Fife)
Momma's Family (Impossibly bad)

Shows on others' lists that I've never seen a single episode of:
Simpsons (yes, it's true)
Arrested Development
Curb Your Enthusiasm (I have a feeling I'd like this one)
How Met Mother
Bang
Get Life
South Park
Sunny in Philly

all-time is too hard.   But I'll give my top 5 current shows...  The Office, Family Guy, Weeds, Californication, Entourage.   :)

Sadly it doesn't include "Big Bang Theory"... what is that show, anyways?

Actually maybe I'd put South Park on there.  That show is pretty funny.

I gotta throw News Radio into the discussion as well.  It's probably one of the most underrated shows ever.  Phil Hartman was brilliant in it.

My list, in no particular order:

The Simpsons
Arrested Development
Mr. Show
Kids in the Hall
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Kids in the Hall was the best!!!  (I hadn't considered them or SNL as I read this as asking about sitcoms, but it's not, it's just comedies)

If we are including sketch comedic shows as well, Kids in the Hall, Monty Python's Flying Circus and of course SNL need to be in my top 5.
I love my kids - Call me a sap, but it's true.
