I never hated on Baby but the facts are he has definitely motivated himself to be better, since that nationally televised crying scene, he sure has improved his game and for me at least has taken over Powe in a sense that he has added that baby hook which even D Howard wasn'nt able to block and that nice elbow jumper from 12-15 feet which opens up leon Powe and KG for offensive Boards.

IIRC, Tommy said that he wants Baby to use the hook more often. I think it was during the Nets game with the Wyc interview. It looks good, imo. Tommy knows his basketball, eh?
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Player of the game was BBD,

He has major BCP!

Glen Davis' best work was at the back end against Dwight Howard and that tough rebounding. He tends to show well against the tough PF in this league like Howard and Tim Duncan. Must be a matchup thing against the slower, muscular PF's. Speed is what gives Glen Davis the most trouble. I like what I see out of Glen Davis. He is getting it going.

Doc is just showcasing him, it's the only explanation.

You don't think he's been playing well?

Great game by Baby. If he plays the rest of the season like he has the last two plus weeks and Danny might not need to add a bench payer for the playoffs.

Baby's numbers for the last 9 games:

19 MPG
7.5 PPG
4.1 RPG
1 STPG
0.7 APG
17-20 FTM-FTA 85%
25-57 FGM-FGA 43.8% - Of course, this isn't great, but take away one game where he was 1-12 and you are seeing more of what he has been about shooting lately with a 24-45 FGA-FGM 53.3%

Add to that that his defense has been steady good and one can see why Baby is getting minutes. His defense tonight was excellent.

Stay away from calling out posters with terms like 'Hater'

While accusing a specific poster of being a hater is obviously against forum rules, there is sometimes no other way to say it, there's a TON of Big Baby haters out there.

They don't not like him, they hate him.  For me, Glen Davis is one of my favorite two Celtics (if not #1), so I am of course biased.

It is funny though how a couple of games ago, people, even on these boards were saying how Baby shouldn't even be an NBA player.  Funny how quickly opinions change.

See why I love the potential of Big Baby?  This is the Big Baby from LSU.  He was tough inside the paint, but also had a jumpshot, including the college three pointer. He's also a great passer.  And he's only in his second year! 8)

I will say though that one thing we do know about Powe is that you can't hold this guy back for long. Expect Baby's good play to push Powe into some better play and a return to the consistent, reliable Powe of earlier this year and most of the second half of last year. If Baby continues with his play and Powe can return to the aforementioned form and this team might not need help up front to win it all after all.

I've always liked BBD but I like Powe too. I want Powe to come back strong and for Baby to give this team a lift like he did tonight at least once a week and be steady thereafter. Let's here it for those second round, undersized, underapreciated, overlooked young guys that really make the Celtics a dangerous team when they are playing well.

I was just jocking with some guys.

Yeah, I've been of the opinion he was playing well and deserving minutes for awhile.

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale

When people criticize a bench player, it does not mean they want them to get hit by a bus on the way home, or fail out of the league.

Unless they're talking about Tony. ;)

Baby's played well over the past two weeks.  This has been the most consistent stretch of his career, which is good to see.  I'm hopeful that he keeps it up, although his track record suggests that he won't.

When BBD plays like this, he's a very valuable player.

To be fair, he doesn't have much of a track record. He's in his second year. And just like Rondo did earlier in the season, sometimes things simply start clicking... though consistency is still always an issue.

9 games, and you want to throw one out to show how he is really playing? C'Mon. The only number that jumps out is the free throw shooting. Those are numbers Perk and Powe should covet.

True.  Sometimes things just click into place with young players.  I'm hoping that's the case with BBD.

He hit his jumpers tonight, if he can do that he'll continue to get playing time with his defense against centers. He had 3 close shots last night too. A jumper is nice but if you are playing the 5 you still need to get some easier buckets inside.

Of course if he can get to the line like he did tonight that will work too.
