they just added two players... Gabe Pruitt, and Bill Walker.

You are so right , No way is Gabe going to be traded. I am sorry if you don't watch the games and have made this conclusion from limited playing time but maybe Wyc is going all in on a big and is trying to up the ante for any Celtic Yougins on the roster.

gabe is prob our best sg/pg trading chip.

I'm not sure if you can trade powe or davis and get an upgraded pf/c back.

but if a team needs a sg/pg then we have pruitt or giddens for example.

like wyc stated we don't have the team right now that can get us another championship. Sacrifices need to be made

We need one player right now that has height, is smart to adapt to our system and can nail the jumper.

One game - or a handful of games - doesn't mean that two kids have all of a sudden become championship caliber players.

Wyc is saying what some of us here have been saying since the summer imploded: This team won't win the title and it needs help.

Pruitt and Walker aren't going to change that this year.

i disagree with you guys, the team needs another big but other than that we didn't lose those games because of personel, we lost it becuase we weren't playing smart, aggressive, championship caliber basketball. it was mental, we hadn't practiced in weeks and were dog tired. THIS TEAM THE WAY IT IS CAN WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP.

It's clear that the team will add 1/2 players in the following 6 weeks. I believe the team has 3 fronts:

1. They will explore possibilities at the trade deadline (in the meantime they will showcase the youngsters-that's why Cassell is not seeing any minute btw)

2. They will visit PJ by the all star break :)

3. If 1) and 2) are not successful then they will see who gets waived by march (Smith, Marbury?)

Totally disagree. This team the way it is may not win more than one series in the playoffs. The bench is an abject disaster, primarily in the absence of a competent 5 behind Perkins.

I think Pruitt can do Sams Job...at least last years sam job..easily
then we will need a miracle for tony Allen
and visit PJ or get Joe Smith
then we will be right there.

sam isn't playing because he's 39, and they think he only has abut 40-50 games left. I'm sure showcasing the youngsters is part of it as well, but over all, its because they want to get what the can out of sam come playoff time.

besides, outside of gabe, what youngster are they showcasing? leon and baby were rotation players last year, teams have seen them already.

Well, it's Baby and Gabe that they've been showcasing. Now maybe Walker too, who knows. The thing is Doc could have played Sam during the losing streak and then give him some rest against Raps and Nets. He is 39 but it doesn't mean he can't play 8-10 min from time to time.

doc is on recored multiple times as saying sam won't see the floor anytime soon because they want him rested for the stretch.

I don't think BBD is being showcased.  He's been in the rotation since a rookie.  It's not like he is all of a sudden getting playing time.  He's our best defender of bigs after Perk, that's why he's playing.  I still think he is more talented than Powe and a more consistent defender, which is what this team is built on.

That being said, with Pruitt looking decent and Walker possibly getting playing time, we might not need that much if these two can help. We might be able to get away with only bringing in a big and a point guard (if Sam isn't going to suit up).  I like Gabe for Tony's minutes, but I'm not sold on his abilities to run the team, especially in the playoffs.

I'd like to give Bill Walker some meaningful minutes to see if he can effectively backup Paul and help us in the playoffs.

Perfect scenario: Joe Smith gets bought out and decide to sign with the C's instead of the Cavs, Bill Walker shows he can backup Paul effectively and Marbury gets bought out and joins the Celtics. ;D

I would agree in the sense that there are a bunch of teams that could win a championship if things work out for them. We are just no longer favorites.

Didn't help the Lakers being favorites last year.

The Celtics definitely need to improve and be more consistent, but when they're on the top of their game, they'll beat anyone.  Only problem is we haven't seen much of that this year.  Maybe they'll get it together for the playoffs, maybe not.  But this team as presently constituted is a championship caliber team.  I don't want to hear anything about their lack of depth, because everyone knows the rotation is shortened come playoff time.

Is the Celtics situation right now ideal?  Absolutely not.  They could really use a veteran big man, a backup point guard, and another shooter.  But whether or not those things come, the Celtics have the talent to win in the playoffs.
