I enjoy the blog very much when I am able to participate during games. Since I am in New York, it is unusual to spend any "quality time" with avid Celtics fans.

During this little slump, it is healthy to know I am not the only one ready to tear his teeth out. I have taken to calling this team the Boston Septics lately. But, I am not hopeless yet - I really do think they will turn it around and be in great shape by March or April to re-assume their dominance.

Same here, I live on LI. I rarely ever find Celts fans in my areas, everyones a Knicks and Laker fan, no love for Boston sports in NY.

Blob, where are you from on Long Island?  As many here have no doubt grown of reading, it is my homeland as well.

I also see a lot of pretentious posting. Things like, "Von Wafer was the 27th draft pick of the 1999 draft, not the '98. Get your facts straight, you simpleton  ::). Your ignorance offends me deeply."

1. please tell me someone posted that correction to be a punk or a wise alec...if not thats absurd to quibble over the draft year of von wafer.

2. i also have been on celtics blog since the beginning but have forgotten/lost my user name multiple times and started over.  My last one was somethign like G-Money or G-$....I'm glad my name now refers to a player that i dont have to fear will be cut by the Heat to make room for Bobby Jones. But either way i love celtics blog, it makes law school classes a lot more tolerable. thanks to all u mods and everyone else responosible for such a great site

in talking to a friend, i was wondering what the newer posters' impressions have been on the blog, but from a community view point.  we all know the blog has great info and sharing of ideas, but i want to know if you feel a sense of belonging, you feel ur input is respected by others, and the overall sense of community.

i have always enjoyed this place and its posters.  i want to make sure everyone has the same type of experience.
This is a great topic. I have been on about two years and love this board. When I first saw this thread title I thought it was going to be about people who have less than one year of service being front runners. Not on a site like this (maybe on SOSH). I have always felt welcome with my ideas given validity on this board (and set strait when they weren't valid). Thanks for making this board a fun place to talk sports.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Around the north shore of Suffolk county. From the Huntington area, it's near northport, brentwood and dix hills if those ring bells. If I know one thing, the Celtics won't find many, if any fans there. Senior year I drew alot of flak for the KG jersey, which would always be followed up by the infamous "are you also a red sox fan ?" question. That one you don't say yes to in NY if you want to make friends. ( I don't follow baseball but i'd give my kudos to them over the yanks)
True Celtic = Leon Powe

Bring back the show!!!!

Ah, you Suffolk folk...I'm a Nassau guy, went to school at Herricks back in the day.  But yeah, I know those places - Brentwood had a player (Garcia, John Garcia, maybe?) who was real good a few years back, and their hoops team was excellent, and I know a couple people in Northport.  Small world...

Sadly, it's the other way around for me.  I see a lot of Sawx caps, walk up to people and ask "Hey, do you follow the Celts, too?" (ready to pump CB of course) only to find that they've got no interest in hoops.  Boogah.

at first i was intimidated by posers with alot of TP's and Posts, but I joined here in the off-season with no game threads. either way it was only a couple of days before i felt like i was accepted and part of the "team", i couldn't imagine anyone not feeling that way.

in time i've been here i only had one major disagreement and it ended with about 16 posts of us quoting back and forth then TPing eachother for a good discussion.

This is a great board, I feel that as soon as I start posting regularly that I'll become a part of the community.

The great thing about this place is that the vets don't disregard the newbys. Everyone's opinion is meaningful (although there are some posters who I swear just say things to be "stupidheads" and get a rise) and respected.

When I was new a while back there weren't that many senior members so it wasn't intimidating. Now there's dozens of posters with stars and over 100 TP's (and me 8)) so I can see why people would be put off - but don't be. We welcome you with open arms, unless you're named after a rookie not called Bill Walker ;)

im glad to see that this thread took a more serious tone to it bc i really hoped the newer posters would share their feelings and experiences. i also think it would be beneficial to the mods and some older posters too, bc we can see how newer posters feel and their first impressions.  communication always leads to a better milieu.

I have been reading this website for a long time, but never really go into the posting until I started taking online college courses this past year.  This place kind of prepared me for what it is like working with a message board.

Besides that, I feel like although there are disagreements, people are treated with respect and given a chance to speak their case.  I have been posting a little bit more as time went on, but I feel this is a great place to just read and get info as well.
"Coach you were 24 and 58 last year, why the playoff talk?"
"Well we made a couple of key trades . . . and we got The Funk."

I was definitely intimidated at first also but there are some very good people out here. This is the place I go to get every scrap of info I could possibly need about the C's so I end up being here multiple times a day. Plus, I do feel welcomed by the folks who have been here are while and the game chats are really good whenever I get a chance to sit in on one. My comments don't get ignored or overlooked or anything. It's decent.
