The Lakers will win like 73-75 games

Here you go again. You are not a Celtics fan. I think you're just a Lakers fan pretending to be a Celtics fan on the blog. Get outta here.

The Lakers probably will have a better record than us in the regular season but come playoff time they'll crumble again. I just don't see the Lakers ever beating us in the Finals. We're to tough for them.

As much as we might find being a Laker fan offensive, JR has never presented anything truly offensive in the basketball forums.  Let's keep away from attacking a poster based on our opinions of his allegiances.  (this is not directed solely at you you BigAl...there has been a rising tide of direct attacks at JR) - Redz

Its still early yet but so far,the competition in the west is not as strong as it was last season. If things do not change the Lakers will probably win the west with the best record.I would never count the Hornets out in the west either.Once the C's start clicking on all cylinders,we will probably win more games than anyone in the east and west.Things will get harder in the west as the season goes and the Lakers will start losing more as teams work out their weaknesses.I still dont think the Lakers has strengthen their team by a large margin with Bynum, became a taller team yes,but the heart is still the same.Bynum is more a finesse player than a bruiser.Once Perk give him a few hard fouls,he will back down.

At the moment there's a  lot of injuries plaguing western conference teams, thats why the Lakers will probably win a few more than usual, but as the season goes and they come east,it will be a different story barring not a lot of injuries start happening in the east.

I don't know about that but one thing is for sure, you're definitely not a Celtics fan. You've been given ample opportunities to respond to queries of such manner and not only do you ignore them you continue to talk trash about our Celtics and praise every other team, namely the Lakers and Pistons.

Agreed, honestly I don't care if he wants to waste his time on the blog, his choice, but he never responds to when he's asked, which makes it pretty obvious.

The Lakers are soft, just like last year. The C's are facing playoff intensity every game, beating up on them won't be that difficult. The west is terrible this year when it comes to contenders and they won't be conditioned to play a defensive juggernaut like Boston. Lakers win 68 games, C's win 64, C's beat them in 6, again.

Yep.  Both the Celtics and the Lakers are going to be in the playoffs.

The important number is who is going to win 16 games in the playoffs.

The Lakers look extremely dominant both on offense AND defense.  They are blowing out team after team.  Bynum unquestionably makes them a better team than the one we beat in the finals.  And I'm really not sure that we can beat them this year.

It's way too early to say they'll win over 72 games, but ... that team is scary good.  This fact makes me sick, but... it's true.

This is a very realist perspective.  George Karl noted that they have been rolling through teams by double digits all season so far.  Their team is really good and I think they have a shot at coming close to 72 if they remain healthy.  I think they'll win 66-72.  As Magic Johnson pointed out, they are treating this year as a "business year" where they have to take care of business every night to get the homecourt to win the NBA Finals.

As for the celts, we've seemingly been more concerned with coasting to keep healthy this season that dominating as we've seen from the Spurs do earlier this decade.  The 66 wins last season was phenomenal, I think we'll finish with 60-66 this year considering the stronger Eastern conference.

I think any fan of the NBA already has to see (and look forward to) a Finals rematch this year imminent.  With the improvement and newfound hunger of the Lakers and if the Lakers can grab homecourt, it will be a CLOSE series probably coming down to game 7!

I still dont think the Lakers has strengthen their team by a large margin with Bynum, became a taller team yes,but the heart is still the same.Bynum is more a finesse player than a bruiser.Once Perk give him a few hard fouls,he will back down.

Maybe I don't watch enough Lakers games, but is he really "finesse"?  I thought he was a physical low post player.  Can I get some more opinions on this?  He certainly didn't back down 2 years ago after Shaq dunked on him and held his own against him Thursday night from what I saw.

Detroit beat the Fakers by about 10 if I can remember, and that was at HOME for the Lakers. Now the Celtics have beaten Detroit twice now, both victories a blowout. In one of these games the big three each did not play 30+ mins. I've also watched the Laker games a bit this season just to see how they've improved, and yes they are better, but the Celts can still beat them. Mr. Softy oops I mean Gasol is still a ice cream dealer and wont be physical, and Bynum doesnt really impress me. I'm open for any arguments on this one, i've had this topic on my mind for a while and I would KILL to see these two teams in the finals again.

the lakers are soft like a twinkie filling, and they dont play defense.  in a single game they can beat us, but not in a seven game series.

I agree with you here,so havent i watched most of the Lakers games so far this season, and i do  see some  change.Adding Bynum to the starters, changing Odom to the second unit has been the biggest change that improved their bench.Bynum allows them to do more lobbing .He is adding another presence inside, rebounding, blocking shots, and has some offense in his game.He looks slow by the third quarter in the games ive seen(imo). They did improve but i dont see them being tougher or ready to win aganist the Celts in a seven games series. We got a ways to go though to see whose healthy at the end and running on all cylinders.Who knows, the LAKERS may not even win the west, there a few other teams out west who might be peaking by playoff time, like the Hornets.Spurs might even get on track by playoff time.I see an up and coming Portland team, that might be ready to challenge by spring.

hey, lets give JRG some sympathy here. personally, i think he is a celtics fan, but cursed by a severe case of dyslexia and so he always spells "celtics" as "lakers."  ;D
