The word versatility comes to mind when i think of James Posey as a basketball player, not so much in the case of Leon. Not taking anything away from Powe but JP was capable of doing many differrnt things on the court consistently well..with Powe being  limited to a few.Losing either would and did affect a team but i think losing Posey would be more noticable in the long term.

For last year, I think the answer was Posey.  For this year?  I think it might be Powe.

At this point we all know what Posey brought to the table last year on the court (good D of 3/4, versatility to run small ball, clutch 3-point shooting).  But to me, the biggest thing he brought to the table was championship experience, which gave him believability in the locker room that even the Big Three didn't have.

This year, the vast majority of the team has championship experience.  We'll still miss Posey's on-court contributions, but the team no longer had as much need for what was (to me) his most important trait.

This year, what the team needs from it's role players, is to provide the energy to allow the team to win on a nightly basis over the long season without overtaxing KG, Pierce and Allen.  To that extent, I think the biggest need off the bench this year is a jolt of energy and offense.  And that's why, to me, Powe (and even Allen) may be better fits than Posey would have been.  Posey himself is a vet that shines most in the post-season, so he fits perfectly on a young and energetic champion want-to-be like the Hornets.  But Powe and Allen provide that young jolt to help get the engine running when the vets are on idle, as was the case last night for KG and Allen.

None are a big loss. You find replacements for them, and move on. All the cry through the offseason and preseason on who will be able to defend LeBron... I think we contained him quite well in the half court game. In fact, I don't think LeBron scored once on Tony.

he toasted him a couple times in the first half, i think, but overall, he did a very good job on bron bron.

According to the play by play on NBA.com and ESPN, the only thing LeBron did when Allen was on the floor was a dunk, but it was off a steal... probably a fastbreak.

It's not really fair to expect TA to replace Posey. TA is a 1/2 and Posey was a 3/4. Posey was a one trick pony on O - hitting threes. Whereas TA has a more versatile game but is mostly a slasher.

I think most of you guys are dead wrong. The C's need slashers more with PP getting up there in years and guys like KG and RA more content to live on the outside. Did I mention our best bench player might be another outside shooter - Eddie House.

DA thought we were kinda lucky to win with alot of veteran shooters instead of a more well rounded team. We effectively "hid" this weakness against the Lakers but both Cleveland and Atlanta exposed it some.

Powe and TA will get to the line more in a week then Posey will in 3 months. The C's will be fine. There is more then one way to skin a cat.

Since they won a championship last year and teams rarely repeat it's going to be tough for us to "prove" the naysayers wrong. But so far so good.. The X factor really was Posey's "clutch" play. His fearlessness. That's what I respected most about his game.

We need the confident Salmon and Mashed Potatoes TA to play and for him to ignore the naysayers - same with Powe.

Hey Drzaa, Great post I agree totally with all your good points. What we needed from James above all else was for him to show us how to Win. Still hurts but we should be fine now that he helped show us the Light.
