  • The good ole days.
Just wanted to say I definitely, 100%, unequivocally DO NOT feel sorry for any of you Sox fans (not that any are asking me too).... BUT... I know those on here are a rare breed of sports fan that have probably stuck with their team through thick and thin, so I will congratulate you on a good season and honorable battling through injuries, trades, and deficits.  Good luck next year.  Definitely got a bright future.

Tampa deserves a ton of credit for beating the defending champs in the manner in which they did.  No tears here.

And an admirable season by your Twins as well.  Must have been a little rough seeing Garza come up big in a 7th game for you though.

Yup

When I find myself feeling bad about last night I think about Dicky V, a true Rays fan (one of about 5).  I'm happy for him.  The rest of the fans and their cowbells don't belong in the show.  Neither does that crappy dome with the catwalks.  However the players and the manager absolutely belong in the Series, and will give the Phillies a good fight.  I know this isn't the glamour matchup that the MLB wanted, but I think it's actually going to be a really good WS, something we haven't had for awhile.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

That was a great series.  The Sox showed a lot of character by making that big comeback in game 5 and then pushing it to 7 games, and the Rays did what they've done all season.  Just when you think they're gonna crack and show that they're the same old Rays, they come through.  That's a very good team and I'll be rooting for them in the Series.  I don't care about all of their fake fans.  They'll never be able to enjoy their victory as much as the true fans (as few as there may be, there are some).

It was a tough loss to take last night, but it's at least nice to know that the $200+ million Yankees are third string in their own division.   ;)

2 WS wins in my lifetime makes this much easier to swallow... this morning, I'd much prefer this to what a Royals fan feels...
Now, on to 18...

Let's not talk about how many Red Sox hats and jerseys popped up around the country as soon as they won the series in 2004.  Teams need to give fans a reason to cheer, the Rays had not done that until now.  Yeah, you should feel better for a diehard like Dicky V, but the Rays' fair-weather fans are no different than the Red Sox or any other team.

I don't know if I would say it was rough.  I was happy for him and I liked him as a Twin.  Unfortunately for his first year or two he though he knew everything and could blow fastballs by every major leaguer.  His unwillingness to develop his other pitches eventually made him a prized and tradeable asset.  I guess the trade opened his eyes, and I'm happy he's finding success.  Bottom line, Twins needed a bat, and Delmon Young was probably the best combination of ability and potential they could get.  He didn't develop the power the Twins were hoping for, but hopefully there's still time.  Their rotation is going to be fine without Garza, though.

No comparison.  The Sox were still selling out their games before 2004.  It's true that there are bandwagoners for every team, but the Rays had a bunch of empty seats well into the season, and were still drowned out by Red Sox fans during the regular season.  The Rays gave their "fans" something to cheer about all season.  It took until the playoffs for them to start doing it.
