Paraphrasing a 1995 conversation I saw on TV this weekend between Larry King and Walter Cronkite.

WC:  Larry, name 1 person from the 1400's.
LK:  (after a moment) um, Christopher Columbus
WC:  That's my point, in 300 - 400 years from now the only name people will remember from the 20th century will be Neil Armstrong...that's how significant that accomplishment was.

I almost posted the Onion Newspaper headline, but figured the profanity would get it crushed.  Perhaps on of the funniest things I have ever read.

My buddy walked into his office on the anniversary and seriously did this looking at a newspaper on someones desk... It went over very well. Thank god his boss got the joke:

"Let me call him," Floyd said.

The man shook his head. "O.J. doesn't give out his cell," he said. "He'll call you."

Danish soccer player in coma after being struck by lightning
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS (CP)

COPENHAGEN — FC Nordsjaelland defender Jonathan Richter is in a coma after being hit by lightning during a reserve game.

Richter was struck during a brief thunder storm Monday while playing against second-tier team Hvidovre, and was unconscious when he was taken away in an ambulance. Police said the 24-year-old Dane was in a coma.

FC Nordsjaelland tops the Danish league after beating defending champion FC Copenhagen 2-0 in the first round on Saturday. Richter, who joined the club in 2005, came on as a substitute in the second half.

When you get the time, please say
a prayer for Jonathan Richter. Thanks.

this is terrible - I'd assume they usually stop games if there's thunder/lightning, as a coach if there's even a hint of it we go inside during practice or a gameday...

my thoughts and prayers go out to him - very sad indeed

Yes, terrible. Something similar happened in Germany last year. IIRC, 4 players had to be carried to the hospital.

Last night we had 5000 registered lightnings in 30 minutes!
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

The bad weather just sort of came out
of nowhere so the ref didn't really
have a chance to stop the match.
There were only two(!) bolts of lightning
in the area where the match was being
played between 6 pm and 7 pm , so it was
really just the baddest of luck for JR.
Reports say he's feeling slightly better
today, so that's great news.

TP's for you both for caring.

Tomorrow begins a 3 day walk for breast cancer.  Most of the walkers will be women - mothers, daughters, aunts, girl friends and friends.  I wish all of them well and thank them for their efforts!!
