It can be tough finding things to write about this time of the summer so here is a fun topic.   With the addition of high flyers Bill Walker and JR Giddens who is now your favorite dunker on the Celtics?

You have Tony Allen starting to get his ups back at the end of the season.
Pierce had that nasty throw down against Denver earlier in the year so he can still show it every now and then.
KG's follow up dunk on Gasol's head in the finals is one of my favorites.
Ray Allen was a former dunk contest participant and can still get up at times.
Love Powe's ferocious dunks.
Perk's wind up dunks take an eternity but he had some nice ones of off feeds from KG during the season.
PO's length should make for some fun ally oops.
Rondo's dunk against the Pistons during the regular season (I was at that game) may have been the dunk of the year for the team.

I will go with JR Giddens as my favorite dunker on the team as of now.  No lingering injuries to speak of and had some nasty dunks in past dunk competitions.  He should be exciting on a breakaway by himself.

Don't know about the best dunker, but the dunk of the year was Rondo against the Pistons.  Blew by Rip like he wasn't even there.  To me, that was one of the definining plays of the season; that was the moment when it was clear, the Pistons couldn't deal with his speed, and the C's were just the better team.

Seeing Powe get up and throw it down was really encouranging, too.  He's got a lot more athleticism than people thought he had left after his surguries.

It sure looks like Giddens is their best dunker.  Ray Allen actually had a couple of my favorites from last year though.

Agreed.

I'm thinking one of the regular season games vs. Detroit in crunch time. It was basically a 360.

There were a couple.  One was in a game they ended up losing, but he had a sick dunk that said "enoughs enough".  I can't remember who it was against though.
Yup

I wonder if it's the one that I'm thinking about. He cut from the behind the rim, took a back door pass, went up for what looked like to be a crazy, twirling reverse layup, but he instead dunked the ball in with authority. THAT was a sick dunk and made me remember that Ray CAN dunk, but still choses to save his knees and make the layup. Rondo wins my awards for "Sickest Dunks of 2008" AND "Player That Doesn't Dunk Often But Is Most Likely Going To Try And Posterize You With a Dunk" <--It's a long name for an award for someone who tried soo hard to dunk on LeBron in the East Finals. He never succeeded, as James is a sick blocker, but he took ever chance he could get.

Back to the topic of best dunker for the upcoming season...My vote goes to Darius Miles. I hope to see him get a nasty dunk over a soft big like Dirk or Yao. Plus some of his blocks on youtube make me watch them on repeat
Can't stop, Rondo!

  • KG is da Man
For me, it was KG's momentum changing dunk in Game 5 I think ??? against the Pistons over Theo Ratliff (can anyone confirm this?) on a fast break.

It made a very very nice poster.
Anything is possible!!!

Rondo.  And that dunk was actually dunk of the year.

There are some great videos in there.  The Pierce MVP one is intense.

I remember before this past year, I always wanted Paul to get up and actually dunk the ball.  He doesn't usually dunk the ball but he can definitely still jump, that's for sure.  I was sort of in doubt before last year.

My favorite dunk from last year was the Rondo dunk.  That was just great.

I'm guessing Giddens and Walker will both be high flyers at the next level, hopefully they can balance the hops with the shots (Gerald).  Hopefully they don't just try to jump once the cross the 3 point line.
Who said the East was the JV conference? See you next year, Mr. Bryant!
