yeah I put this on the front page this morning

in other news, was I the only one who looked at this thread in in their head thought "that could be read as 'Moron Darius Miles' pretty easily?"

My bad, did not see that you had already posted the article. I have seen Darius Miles play a few times up close and he was impressive. When Lebron was a rookie I went to the Summer league at Umass Boston. Darius stole the show from lebron. By halftime fans were chanting overated as Lebron got the ball. Lebron ended the game with 13 points while Miles scored in the mid twenties. On day two of the Summer league I remeber being more excited to see Miles play then James.

great article.  I didn't realize the significance of the cap room that Portland COULD have.   Think about it... they were already a solid .500 team, but now they are adding Greg Oden (who people still think will be dominant), Rudy Fernandez (he was just sick in the olympic games.  He'd be a lotto pick for sure if he was coming out right now) and Bayless (summerleague MVP, right?)...   They'll be improved already.   But according to this article, if they do NOT get stuck with Miles on the books they'll have somewhere between 25-33 million in cap space.  So basically they can just add a couple max contract players to the mix next year?  Good lord.

Even if they get stuck with Miles on the books, they are still looking at significant cap space enough to sign a superstar.   That team is going to be ridiculous.

I must admit that I didn't even know that he was injured, and the only place I saw him play was in NBA Live 04 or 05.
I'm really excited about him and I thought that the Mavs got to him before we did, and it made my day when I read that the C's offered him a non-garantied contract

yeah, i used to live near cleveland. miles is a very talented player. so many skills.

but much of his ability was based on athleticism. will his knees hold up? that is the real question.

and even if his knees are ok, has he really changed his thinking, way of life?

ability was never the problem with miles. the problems were all in his head.

if he has both knees and head fixed, then the celtics may possibly have the best 6th man in the nba.

I would assume that KG had a big part in him coming to play for us, and with that I would expect that KG will be one hell of a role model and mentor for him.  I can't imagine him being a locker room problem with KG Paul and Ray Ray.  That isn't even mentioning the alumni.  Russell and company will be great mentors.

I know nothing about Miles, except all that I hear or read is bad. Put a player with skills in the right situation, especially one who has gone thru what Miles has, and he becomes a different player and person. Could there be a better Team for this guy at this time? We've had guys with bad reps come here before. One was Dennis Johnson. I don't think anything more needs to be said about him.

Not to nitpick or anything, but KG did have to tolerate Ricky Davis and Mark Blount for a season or two. We all know how Blount approaches the game, so we can't say conclusively KG alone will bring out the best in a player. Although, with Ray and Paul on board, I don't think Miles will present much of a problem. Too bad he's a terrible player in NBA Live '08. He's blue everywhere except near the circle in the lane.

i'm not worried about this guy at all - in fact, i'm super excited to see him in green. before the injury, he had insane talent. we can all just hope for an amare like return to form.

if he had that bad of a knee injury, to the point where he was labeled "done" by team docs, and somehow rehabbed his way back into good enough shape to be given a shot to compete for a roster spot, he's got to have found some kind of ethic, he's got to have rediscovered some love for the game, he's got to be doing something different now than he was before. i hope he's healed, and i hope he shows the nba he's still legit.

Yeah, I get a kick out of all these superlative statements that KG gets from people after this year.  What happened to the other 12 years of career?

I am sure that is what Jeff Goodman would say if he sees the thread title...

I am not the least bit worried about chemistry with Miles but it has nothing to do with KG.  Miles is no thin ice.  If he screws around even a little, he will simply be cut.  I am also optimistic that he has grown up but we will see.  I am much more oncerned with his knee and his poor shooting percentage than worried that he will spoil this team's chemistry.
