Just watched the Argentina VS Iran game and was impressed with Iran's 7 2" center, Hamed Ehadadi. Ehadadi had 21 points 16 rebounds against a very talented nba level team.
I have been watching the Iran team for the past year and have seen steady improvement in his game. He is obviously a project but has great size, shot blocking ability and strong offensive abilities. He has interest from several NBA teams but I really feel he could help the Celtics at the center spot. He has a relatively low profile because he plays for Iran which means the C's could sign him cheap. Looks like the a good buy low situation for Danny...

Unfortunately, at least for now, the league forbids it due to U.S. law.  However, the league is applying for a special license to allow it.

Still, I'd worry about him being another Patrick O'Bryant, someone with high upside, but relatively raw.  At this point, this team would probably be better served with a veteran big man.

I agree that a veteran big man would be ideal but I haven't seen any real decent ones available.

if this guy is what you say he is, then i hope ainge at least looks at him.

put him as the 15th guy on the team. that is what spots 12 through 15 are about.... no immediate help to speak of, but potential for the future.

just consider them to be "vegas spots".... low odds of making it, but big pay off if they do.

I think we should take a chance on Ehadadi as well. I just read this article, and the guy is 7'2 and putting up very solid numbers in the games right now. Elson is the last big I would've considered as far as veteran bigs available in the NBA, and Danny apparently didn't want him. He likes young players, we all know this.  I say bring him in when the legalities have been worked out.

It will be great to have an Iranian in the league. It will mean a lot of NBA broadcasts in Iran, and could do a lot for improving sentiments of the citizens of both countries for each other.

I watched the Australia Iran game and I was impressed with Ehadadi as well. He was quite mobile with soft hands. The commentators said he was only 22.

I'm willing to give him (O'Bryant) th benefit of the doubt.  It has taken many years for a lot of players to "mature" in the NBA.

Let's see what the C's can do with him.  There were many people who thought that Jefferson was a bust as well, until they brought in Clifford Ray to work with him and Perk.

Besides, Patrick has a great shot in his arsenal, the Sky Hook.

Maybe (like the Celts did with Jefferson) the Warriors' medical staff seriously misdiagnosed a POB ankle injury and forced him to come back on it too soon, all the while questioning POB's manhood.

I agree, though, that two seasons is too early to declare somebody a bust.  Hopefully, POB needed a change of scenery, and the bell in his head regarding his work ethic has finally gone off.  I think, though, that it's going to take awhile before we see results.  Most guys don't go from garbage time scrub to major contributor on a championship-caliber team overnight.

As for the Ehadadi (henceforth know as "the Iranian kid"), I would prefer a proven vet to fill out the roster.  However, if Danny can't fill that slot, this kid would definitely be worth a camp invite if U.S. teams are granted permission to talk with him.

He looks VERY soft. I doubt he's strong enough to play in the NBA right now He would get pushed away from the basket by much smaller players.

Pruitt, Walker, Giddens, POB. Four spots already on potential for the future. Another project center is not the wises option we can take, I think, especially considering we don't have a proven backup and we just drafted Erden. And this kid needs to develop his body strength and his frame is far from impressive.
