Basically, he's come out and told reporters that even though he has a no trade clause, he won't use it for any trade that may come up.  He says "If the Red Sox are a better team without Manny Ramirez, they should trade me; I will not object"

He states that he doesn't care if he's traded to a title contender or a team that gives me more money than usual, he just wants to play baseball.

With all this said, now it's not out of the realm of possibilities that Manny could be traded before the deadline.  Keep in mind, the Nomar trade happened literally seconds before the tick of midnight on the final day of the deadline so anything's possible.

Seems like with these quotes, Manny is coming the realization that it's time for him and the Red Sox to part.

I read about both the Phillies and Mets being interested.

I imagine the Phillies would send Burrell back.  Can't have an outfield with both Manny and Burrell.

verry upset, im huge manny fan.

managment should just give him an extention. been with us for so long and played really well every single yr.
there is no salary cap in baseball, so stop being cheap and resign the guy

i agree, the only way i think the sox should trade manny is if it makes this team imediatly better, not to save money

You think just Burrell? If we trade Manny I'd like to see a reliever and some prospects come our way.

I'm sure Boras is behind this. It Makes Manny seem compliant ( heck, maybe he's sincere?)while forcing the 'Sox FO to put up or shut up. They may have to publicly change their status with Manny from " We're stuck with him " to " Okay, we need him ".

Yes.   They are looking to move him because they are sick of his antics.   Could they find a better replacement before the trade deadline?

I bet the Red Sox pick up the rest of his contract, and then move him for a reliever and some prospects. He's Manny Ramirez you can't just give him away.   The comments he made indicate to me that he wants attention the same that he did a few years back when he sat out and then came back to a standing ovation. They should get prospects then move them to the Braves for Texiera.

I have never been a fan of trading Manny in the past, but if he won't block any trades, I think they need to look at options.

I just hope they do not trade him to an American League team.

They should be talking to the Dodgers, Cubs, Phillies, Mets, Brewers, and any other contender out West who is looking to load up.  Maybe even Florida would be interested.

But when it comes down to trading him though, it all depends on what they can get.  They need to get at least two top level prospects, preferably ready to play in the majors.  When you look at how rarely a guy of Manny's caliber is available in trades (they may be more rare than Aces), and the fact that the team would then have 2 option years on him, he may bring back as much value as he ever would have.

Just to throw out the level of talent they should look to get back, in order to make it worth lowering the chances of winning this year, and not just taking the draft picks by letting him walk, they could offer him to the Dodgers for Matt Kemp, Johathan Broxton, and maybe a lower level prospect or two.

I would love to have Broxton on this team.  He'd be that 8th inning setup and middle relief guy we've been lacking this year.  As far as Matt Kemp, I've been hearing his name alot over the last few years and I still haven't seen him live up to the hype.

there's no way they will get equal value for manny, and the management knows it and yet they are still going to trade him. and for what? to make dan shaugnessy happy? The yankees just got xavier nady and damaso marte for next to nothing. now the red sox are about to trade manny for nexgt to nothing. The yankees care about wining. the red sox care more about their image.
if this happens. i might be done with the red sox.

I completely agree about the two major league ready prospects. If we let him walk after the year we we get a 1st round pick and a sandwich pick, so a team would need to surpass what we could get from those two picks especially if we pay the rest of his contract.

Woah calm down, we have won two world series since 2000 and the yanks have won 0. We certainly care about winning just as much as the yankees.

I don't even consider paying the rest of his contract.  Any team trading for Manny are trading for his contract too.  $20 million per year is market value for him.  If teams won't pay for him, then we can let him walk, and take the picks.
