Wow, the Warriors have been really active this offseason since they lost Baron Davis and Patrick O'Bryant :P
I can't even keep track of their roster now. But I like this signing for them, a solid swingman off the bench to give Jackson and Maggette a breather, should fit onto the team and Nellie's system. They'll get their money's worth out of him IMO.
Anything is possible!!!

they kinda have to be when your team missed the playoffs AND lost your biggest star.

To me, there is a lot of panic in some of these moves.

They would have been better off just resigning their young players, trading for young players, and rebuilding while saving cap space for future FA when the young players are closer to being ready.

The price seems right in this case -- about $2.1M per year on average for someone who averaged close to 10 points per game last season, can hit the three, and can even play a little defense.

At minimum, Evans plugs the hole created by Barnes and Pietrus' departures.

Why not just keep Azubuike? Better and younger

Mo Evans is just in the way of Belinelli now. Don't see the point in signing him at all. Contract is a little rich for Mo too.

Yeah, I don't understand why they didn't keep him.....

2007-08

PG: Davis
SG: Ellis
SF: Jackson
PF: Harrington
C: Biedrins

key reserves: Pietrus, Azubuike, Barnes

2008-09

PG: Ellis
SG: Maggette
SF: Jackson
PF: Harrington
C: Biedrins

key reserves: Marcus Williams, Mo Evans

At best, it's rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. The Warriors do have some nice prospects in Bellinelli, Randolph, and Brandon Wright, if Nellie ever lets them see any time on the court. Maybe they form the second unit with Williams and Evans?

I like Evans, and think he would have been a good addition to our club. Cheaper than Tony Allen per year? That's a bit of a surprise to me. I thought he could command closer to $3 mil a year, actually. Good young vet, strong and athletic, can play both wing positions, and has decent offense off the bench. A good glue guy. Surprised a contender (Utah, for instance) didn't try picking him up.

For this kind of money, Mullin should have matched Azubuike offer sheet instead.

Maybe the thought is to have a future backcourt of Williams and Ellis, with a smallball lineup of Maggette at SF, Jax at PF, and Harrington at C?

Perhaps they didn't think Azubuike would get enough PT with Maggette and Ellis? Don't know.

i like the clipper's chances this year. the warriors look like the next timberwolves with that roster... okay more like an atlanta with that roster, except in the west, and atlanta gets you probably seeded 10 or 11 and out of playoff contention.

Mo Evans would have been a very good fit in Atlanta replacing Josh Childress. They desperately need a shooter like Mo. Bad timing, it would have been a much better situation for him.

Some reports are now saying that Evans is backing out and asking for more money...

"Golden State has offered Evans a three-year, $6.4 million deal, but after initially agreeing to the terms, Evans is reportedly holding out for more money from the Warriors."

http://www.insidebayarea.com/warriors/ci_9969553

I'm not sure how credible the source is, but I'm just sharing the latest rumor.

he's asking for too much. i say stop being greedy and take the [dang] deal. it may not be a lot, but he's really not worth a lot either.
