Our starters are all still here and our bench are almost all gone. We have so far supplemented those lost on free agent via rookies(giddens, walker, patrick obryant, pruitt) and still have back at least powe and big baby

I dont know if danny is underestimating how important bench players are or if he feels they are interchanable year in and in our while the big three are here but it is an uncomforting situation right now

without our bench last year(and current bench players) i predict this year 10 to 15 games less wins(also consider the fact the east got alot tougher and the big three aging one more year), alot tougher chance to repeat(i dont like the idea facing a lakers team with a healthy bynum this time and with us having no posey)

I dont understand what danny truly wants to do. If he wants to make this celtics team a dynasty , its better to give up your young talent for vets, sign guys like posey(make up the luxury tax in the playoffs) or trade one or two of the big three or all of them and rebuild new. You never saw the spurs in the early 2000s do this nor detroit. Even the bulls always had proven vets in their journey to winning 6 in 8 years.

I think danny wants too many things and in the end it might backfire. I hope not, but he will be walking down an unfarmiliar road for a just winning it championship team

sweet 17 this is not like last year. There are no poseys left on the board this late in the free agency game, no pj brown waiting to come out of retirement. Tell me what he could do then

He offered Posey the same amount per year, just not as many years.

But outside of him, who have the Celtics lost that they cannot easily replace?

Do you want him to over pay TA and House just because they were on the team?   No one else seems to be jumping to pay those guys what they want or could have made.

Show a little patience.  Ainge is not done.  He will not go into the season with the team as is.  He is going to add at least 2 guys that will be part of the regular rotation.

For one minute let's all pretend that we are GM's of NBA teams. I would target all of the Celtic posters to do deals with as I am certain that the panic on this board would lead to very favorable deals for me.
Unbelievable panic.

One other comment, it may or may not work that way to rebuild and win but it also doesn't work that way to make the same deal for Posey that NO did.

Even though i personally love tony allen he lacks what the celtics really need and that is vet role players that could shoot threes to spread out the floor

house and posey were huge on the threes plus other things. I donèt really see many free agents that are pg or sf, g who can shoot threes, play defense etc

btw i really donèt see house coming back either. He will get a better deal elsewhere

TP Wdleehi. That's basically what I said about patience in a simultaneous post in a different thread. =)

We loved Posey too much and wanted to overpay him.

Rebuilding at this point would mean moving the Big 3 (looks like that's not happening). They are the ones that are indispensable. Don't forget the coaching staff too.

yay leftovers. I just hope giddens is first signed(hurry up) and second he can mature 10x if possible

If you really want to get depressed doc has right now no reliable 6th man he can count on when one of the big three needs rest

I for one am not panicking. There are plenty of vets out there that would look good in green on the bench. We're only 2 weeks into the free agent signing season. Lets calm down.

We didn't even sign House or Posey until August last year. That bench turned out OK. :)

I think we should sign Darius Miles for the minimum he came out and said he would accept that. Then split the MLE between Tony Allen and Eddie House.. and if not Tony then someone like Bojston Nachbar

What about the Spurs?  They rebuilt and still won.

mr october you are not realizing that there arent guys like posey and house is likely not going to comeback.

Did you see the remaing free agents left

I like matt barnes, dont think he will be coming here though. Reuben patterson is a headcase

either we make a trade for someone or hope to god giddens and walker will mature up

Hard to tell what Danny is thinking at this stage. We'll have to wait a bit longer to find that out.
