Can someone please explain to me where this idea that Ainge wants to run his Organization like the Red Sox or Patriots?  I mean it really has no basis in fact.  Red Sox and Patroit fans really have no clue.  From hear on out I'll just call them the Sox and Pats.  The only thing he wants to mimic is the winning.  Other than that he probably couldn't careless about how the Sox and Pats handle their negotiations.  He doesn't think Posey is worth what some fans think he's worth and it has nothing to do with the Sox and Pats.  Posey's legacy has taken on epic proportions.

Sox and Pats .. Sox and Pats.. it's tough being a Celtic fan :(

I would be really devastated if we didn't resign Posey. I mean where else can we get 7 points a game off the bench.

Is anyone else sick and tired about going over the same ground about Posey over and over and over and over (and over)?

Posey, I beg you, just sign a [dang] contract somewhere, and soon.
I'd guess the majority of people are fed up with it. I certainly am.

Everything has been said.

Ainge drew a line in the sand in a different spot then most of us expected, but there is nothing really new out there.

Sooner or later there will be nothing to argue about. The "we need to give Posey 5 years at the full MLE" argument has dropped to "we need to give Posey the full MLE at 3 years, maybe 4".

It is not about his offense.

It is about his ability to play defense and hit a big shot.

Agreed.  That's why Danny needs to give a firm deadline, so we can all move on from this nonsense.  If Posey isn't going to sign here, the team needs to start finding replacements.

That would be nice to ease all of our nerves as fans, but from a business perspective that is cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I think DA is doing the right thing. They probably made an initial offer with an overnight deadline or something, but beyond that it's wide open for both parties. Pose is looking for offers to up the price, and DA makes it clear from the start that the C's are exploring other opportunities as well. I'm sure if either party is on the cusp of making a move that eliminates the chances of Posey to Boston, the other party will be given a last chance opportunity to work something out. There could be a deadline associated with that kind of situation, but an outright deadline is not likely IMO.

Is Bartelstein LeBron's agent or Wade's? If not, who is?

No, he's not.  Interesting, though, Bartelstein represents more NBA players than any other agent.

His list:

Quote
Brad Miller
Bobby Simmons
Antoine Walker
Maurice Williams
Mark Blount
Brian Cardinal
Mikki Moore
Trenton Hassell
Darius Songaila
Adam Morrison
DeShawn Stevenson
Brian Cook
Steven Hunter
Charlie Bell
Maceo Baston
Luther Head
David Lee
Justin Reed
Jason Smith
James Posey
Jannero Pargo
Kwame Brown
Shannon Brown
Scot Pollard
Jake Voskuhl
Andre Brown
Devean George
Dan Dickau
Lindsey Hunter
Awvee Storey
Aaron Williams
Eddie House
Roger Mason
James Augustine
Chris Quinn
PJ Brown
Ronald Dupree
Eddie Gill
Linton Johnson
Rony Turiaf
Damian Wilikins

Former clients include Ron Artest, Devean George, and Brian Grant

Obviously, this guy knows how to negotiate.  That list is almost a who's who list of the NBA's most overpaid role players.

Btw, Leon Rose represents Lebron, and Henry Thomas is Wade's agent.

I know that this may not be a popular opinion.  But how crazy does it sound that the general sentiment is to sign a 31 year old 6th man to a 4 year deal at 5.8 mill.  I almost guarentee that if this happens, we wil be kicking ourselves for doing it in the not so distant future.  Im on board for a 2 year deal, but anything else i wouldent be happy with.

I have been against the 4 or 5 year deal.

I expected a three year offer.

but if he signs elsewhere, I expect the Celtics to find a replacement that allows the to be the favorite out of the East and have a great chance to repeat.  But I don't expect that replacement to be equal to what Posey could do.

I don't think anyone would be kicking themselves.  If Posey was being paid $10M+ a year, maybe.  But at $5.6M, that is an extremely reasonable contract to move after year 3 of his contract, if the Celtics wanted to move him.  But I have a feeling that Posey is still going to be productive in years 3 and 4.  Not sure why people think players can't be effective at age  35 when we had 38 year old PJ Brown making a huge impact in the playoffs and people calling to sign players like Zo and Kurt Thomas who are about the age Posey will be at the end of his contract.

I've said even before this article came up that a 2 year deal for Posey would be optimal.  3 years I could live with, but I wouldn't want to give him 4-5 years.  That would burden the cap for far too long.

Has it?   Who was saying 5 years?  Just curious.

I know I've said all along that I was for 3 years, would consider 4, and wasn't crazy about the concept of 5 years.

being a 35 yr old center is different than being a 35 yr old wing whose calling card is supposed to be guarding quick perimeter players.
