Well, I'm glad Gerald got another shot. This should be in a good situation for him. He gets to stay close to home in Texas, and he's put around a group of veterans that can help him both on the court and mentally. Not to mention, an experienced coach in Rick Carlisle, who puts an emphasis on defense. Looking at the Mavericks roster, I'm not sure where he fits as far as playing time is concerned, but I certainly wish him well and hope he at least gets a chance to play at some point.

Good luck, Gerald.

But remember, he'll be around a pot smoking Josh Howard which could get him in trouble.......

Good for him. Hope he has a good financial adviser and saves some money.
I don't mean that sarcastically, why would anyone wish him bad luck?
Being immature and possibly not that bright(I don't know him, just going by what everyone else says) is not a crime. So good luck Gerald.

  • Yup
Has anyone ever appeared in Dunk Contests for 3 different teams? (this is assuming he's still in the league by the All Star break - though they did let Craig Hodges do the 3 Point Contest when he was a free agent... ::) )
Yup

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Quote
During a Wolves' timeout in the second quarter, Gerald Green spent the entire time well removed from the circular huddle, where, you know, he might glean some information that would improve on his reputation for not knowing where to go in the offensive and defensive sets. Instead Green was conversing with the injured Ratliff near the end of the bench. Twelve seconds after play resumed, Gomes picked up his third foul and with McCants also saddled with three, Sichting sent Green into the game. Thirty eight seconds after that, Green receives a pass just over center court from McCants for his first touch. Kobe and Lakers' rookie Jarvis Crittenton immediately sneak up behind Green and knock the ball from his grasp, resulting in a ruthlessly gorgeous, but rather embarrassing to Green, breakaway slam by Kobe. Two or three years from now, Gerald Green will be back in his old neighborhood, alternately bragging about his NBA career and complaining how he got screwed because nobody gave him a chance to play.

Pretty much sums up what I think of the kid right now

"You've gotta respect a 15-percent 3-point shooter. A guy
like that is always lethal." - Evan 'The God' Turner

I can't wait to see Bill Walker abuse him in the post, block his shot, and dunk on him.

I like Gerald and wish him luck.  I hope some day he finally gets it and can put all that athleticism to good use.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
I think he ends up overseas till he's about 28 and then becomes a very good role player in this league.
What do people think would have happened if he wasn't included in the Garnett trade? Do the C's waive him before the start of the season or during the season? Does he ever see the court? Does he take on the defensive mentality the team currently has?
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

All I have to say is who cares.  He is no big loss to us, but I wish him the best.  Maybe he will finally figure things out, it seems to finally be working for Telfair.

TP for the Telfair reference. They are very similar situations, both straight out of highschool, only Telfair was much more highly touted... It took Telfair 3 teams to finally get it right. So hopefully Gerald realized that in order to have a future in this league, he needs to work his butt off, and he can turn it around... Lets hope he can turn his career and life around, or he won't have much to fall back on without that college degree of his... Keep in mind how young he is... I am 21 (just turned a month ago. WOO!), and I would NEVER be able to cope with joining the NBA, and I have a very strong family to support and help me to (im not sure about Gerald's family in this regard)... So lets give him a break, and hope the best for him. Shame on anyone not wanting a person to succeed and turn their life/career around...

Great post.  For some reason, Gerald is as much a whipping boy in this blog as Kobe.

Let's not forget the focus of the organization here Gerald's first two years.  His main playing time came on a tanking team.  I'm really happy to see us champions again.  But it's hard to imagine a very green high schooler is going to learn much from a coach and organization who completely ruled out playing a real NBA defense in his first year and ruled out playing period in his second.

I hope Gerald has a productive career and comes at least halfway to what his expectations were.  If he does that, he'll be a great role player for a long time.

Who didn't like the high-wire act while he was in town.  I thought the cupcake/candle thing was a better dunk than SuperEgo anywayz  :P

His problem was his work ethic. That is something that can be made better, hopefully.  I was thinking about the being close to home thing and thought of how that was said for VinnyB.  :/
