Well, historically speaking, the Boston Celtics were known to world hoop's fans as the b-ball equivalent of Brazil's national soccer team.

So it would be really great if they showed up in Beijing to take the gold. That would cement the franchise's name forever as America's team. :)

Yeah, count me amongst those happy to see no Celtic involved in the Olympics at all.  Given the age of the team and how many games they played, playing in the Olympics would have seriously jeopardized next season.  And given the narrow window of opportunity they have, it's not worth it.
