I know this guy is a bit like Rondo in that he isn't the best scoring point guard.  But at 6-7 and point guard ball skills and incredible court vision might he be worth taking a chance on?  This guy creates bad match ups for almost all teams, and according to his site he is back to contact drills and can dunk again.

he was a mcdonalds All American in 2004 and could be worth the risk.  He is also a restricted free agent this year and the clippers are not expected to  make him an offer

Maybe another year under Sam's wing will set him straight! ;)

I like Livingston but he's got to be considered a major injury risk at this point.
Yup

high risk high reward type of guy as far as the injuries go - will he take a minimum type contract?  I doubt it - will he ever be the same player again? Not sure... would I take a flyer on him for our 10th-15th spots, sure, but I don't think he's at the point in his career where money isn't an object, he'll go where the dollar signs lead him, someone will take the bigger risk, a 3-4 year deal worth 20-25 mil, I think

I love this kid as a player, i was devastated to see him go down.  Everybody is talking about the Clippers taking a guard in the draft too.  When he does come back if he doesnt hesitate to go up in the air like Tony Allen did when he came back Liv could be an impact player again.

Honestly, I don't think we have the assets to get this guy.

I know we're dealing with the Clippers here but I tend to think they're going to hold onto this guy to see exactly where he is post-rehab and you gotta remember he was a promising talent before injury.  I don't think they're just gonna dump him for any package.

Livingston is a restricted FA and unless we are about to dump some money his way that the Clippers won't match, I don't see him leaving LA.

They do not have to trade for him because he will be an unrestricted free agent as of July 1st.

If Healthy, he could be a good fit with House off the bench.

i just don't see the Celtics have the luxury of picking him up and hoping he recovers.  They are in win now mode for the next 2-3 seasons.

I agree that they are in the win now mode.  It just seems like if healthy he could just as effective off the bench as pruitt or whoever we may draft at number 30. I just think that as a backup guard option he should be considered as well as all the others out there.

He is only a RFA if they make him a qualifying offer.  I am not convinced they will do that considering from what I have heard, he is still a ways away from playing basketball again (I read something a couple of weeks ago about him only being able to do drills where there are no defenders).

So there is a good chance he will be a UFA...but that will be because he probably needs at least another year of rehab before even thinking of returning.

If he does go unrestricted, I see other teams making a better offer to this kid than us.

As someone mentioned earlier, he'll most likely follow the dollar signs.

I think the C's are committed to seeing what they can get out of Pruitt next season.  Add House or whatever vet guard to the backcourt and I just don't see Danny making room for a rehab project at this time.

I like Livingston and would definitely sign him.  The problem becomes, what kind of money?  Unless he's coming on for the minimum, I don't like it, because I want to make sure that Posey is back in green.  Sure, Livingston has more upside than Posey, but Posey fills a bigger need right now as he can backup 2-3 positions well.  Livingston on the other hand would really only help as a backup 1, which is probably a bad idea for his career as he'd get minimal minutes backing up Rondo.  And I don't like the idea of Rondo and Livingston on the court together, as neither is a great shooter.

So while it's a nice idea, given our salary position and the relatively small time frame we have to win a title, I don't like Livingston at anything more than the minimum.  And it seems unlikely he comes for that.

Yea i see things unfolding the same way.  Worst comes to worst, if Pruitt can't give the Celts what they need out of a backup point (ballhandling, some shooting, running the offense) than Danny can always pull another Cassell move - i'm sure the Brevin Knights of the world will be available towards the deadline.

Shaun Livingston is still a coveted player in this league and i think a lot of teams are more willing these days to take a chance on a guy coming off a serious injury than they were even just 3 or 4 years ago - you can thank  amare stoudamire for that.  Further, Livingston is young and hasn't hit it big yet, so i don't see why he would be interested in coming to Boston under a new, small contract and playing second fiddle at point again.  No player that young is willing to sacrafice a big pay day and 36 minutes/game day for a shot at a ring.
