pre-playoffs, I picked the Jazz to come out of the West and I was actually pretty scared of that matchup.  New Orleans was good and could hang in the Finals, I have no doubt about that, but I think we'd have a fairly solid edge there.

San Antonio, however, we would have absolutely steam rolled.  It mighta been a sweep.  They just weren't that good and were very fortunate to get as far as they did.  New Orleans should have beat them.

Exactly what I assumed.  It's a lazy argument used to explain a teams struggles.  Sorry I'm not buying the canard.

The Celtics aren't that good if you are talking about great athletes. However they have very good basketball players and have an incredibly deep bench of "role" players that can do a couple of things very well. Big Baby,Powe,Posey,House,PJ, T. Allen and even Sam Cassell can fill a role depending upon the matchup on a given night. Very few teams have that many varied pieces. Other than missing a very tall backup center to guard the supertall freaks, they have nearly any matchup covered to play good "D". Having an extremely flexible team is a major strength that is being overlooked. Think of the different lineups the Celtics have had this year that have played well against specific matchups. (remember Baby doing so well against Duncan as an example or House lighting it up at times early in the year or Power dominanting now and then). The point is there really isn't anyone that the Celtics can't match and that in itself makes the Celtics a very good team.
