Even though most Scali references are jokes, what happened to the Celtics when they went to Scali to replace KG?

So instead of banging on other posters and Scali, remember how good the team played when he started for KG.
It's easier to start Scal next to Perk than KG. Defensively you have Perk's muscle and overall heft in the paint. Offensively you have more room on the perimeter for Scal to float so spacing is better. Scal and KG together is workable (if KG lives in the post and shoulders all the interior defense) but not ideal. Scal and Perkins is a good match.

Someone like Glen Davis would give Kevin more freedom to play help defense and for Kevin to move to whatever offensive spots he wants to take up.

I agree with Who, Scal and KG doesn´t seem to be the right combination.
Start BBD, and when he´s in foul trouble(note: I said when, not if^^), you can still bring Posey, Brown or Powe.

Powe and KG is not a good combination, imo.
Brown is too valuable at the end of quarters, and with 38 years, I´m not sure if he can play big minutes.
Posey is too valuable off the bench, imo, as a wing or PF replacement. Additionally, I´m not convinced that we can play a full game of small ball.

Like Scal, Big Baby has proven to be helpful when KG went down (the spurs game, anyone?). We could keep our rebounding advantage and would still have the same bench options.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

I don't know, I just don't see BBD matching up well defensively with Gasol or Odom. He would be on the bench with 3 fouls in the first 3 minutes.

Scal's a liability as a center. There's no way he stays with Gasol on defense and his offense is terrible. It's gotta be Powe, BBD, or Brown with Scal sitting next to Pollard.

I am in no way supporting starting Scals, but it would be really sweet, if he played, and played well.  For him to come in and help in a clincher would be a nice story.

Then again, calling in a 39 year old, overweight blogger, with an outstanding low post game for a six footer and a career 100% 3-point FG shooting mark at Emerson College would make for a hell of a story too.  If I left now I could make it there for tip off.

That's Redz...R-E-D-Z if the uniform makers need help spelling my name - and I'm taking #38 cause it's my favorite #.

Equal chances on both me and Scals getting the start.

Redz would be a better story. We could all say, "I blog with that guy." TP for you.

BBD would be an intriguing option imo.

Redz would also be the better basketball decision. ;)

great gobs of goo. it is hard to believe that this thread lasted this long.

look at doc. look at his patterns. as posted earlier, he will prefer veterans and experience. that is his mo in most cases.

scal? ha, ha. yes, scal will lead the celtics to the promised land. doc has made scal wear street clothes so far just to lull the lakers into a false sense of security. when he suddenly suits up in game 5, woe be to the kobettes. or maybe not...

doc, and i hope he does this, will allows the starters to keep their practiced and normal roles as much as possible. that means that if perkasaurs can not start, then PF brown fills in allowin the other 4 starters to keep their roles.

let's light up for #17 and hope that future threads will be debating #18 and more.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Redz, I do feel I should warn you that I'm also available and taller (6 foot 1), younger (31) and not overweight. Plus I have that cool Canadian accent and can trash talk to the Euro's in French and English.  ;D

He isn't going to stay with Gasol, but Odom is a different story.
