Let me start by saying, I know it's not the same. I know 23 years is a lot less than 86, but for some of us the Celtics have meant even more than the Red Sox.

And i'm guessing that others, like me, thought of someone as the seconds ticked down last night vs. Detroit.

So lets do this. Let's Beat LA!

Me, I want to win this for my dad, George Piotrowski.

I was 13 when this team last won a title. And while he was never a big sports fan my dad and I watched those games together on CBS in 85, 86, 87 -- in the days before Dish/DirectTV.

I would lie on the living room floor and I would scream and yell and throw pillows during the battles with the Lakers, Pistons and Sixers.  And he would tell me to calm down, especially when it was still just in the 1st quarter:) I can still hear him say, "calm down". Sorry dad I still scream and yell, maybe more. I miss him terribly (he died a month before we drafted Jon Barry, bad few months) and would give anything to get to watch these finals with him.

So I want to win it for him, my dad.

And lets win it for Reggie. Who might have led us to #17 if he'd lived. We miss ya Reg.

Who do you want to win it for?

Win it for Reggie.

Win it for Mike and Tommy.

Win it for us, the true, loyal fans who stuck with them through the rough times when everyone else jumped ship.

But mostly win it for themselves, this group of guys deserves their time.

Win it for ME...Because it would make me really happy

Sorry, that was a but self centered

Win it for a generation of fans who have heard nothing but ancient folk lore about how wonderful this franchise used to be. (and for those of us who have stuck with them since the "good ol' days")
Yup

For Red, Reggie, DJ.
For my man Paul, who deserves

For all of us who Bleed Green.
And for my dad who watches from

amen brother. I want this badly for myself and you fellow diehards, but win it for yourselves. Do it for your collective legacies.

I'm a huge paul pierce guy, the growth he has shown just since the last celtic's playoff run to now is remarkable. He is saying and doing all the right things for this team, and I want him so badly to be remembered as not only a great celtic scorer, but a champion.
Take it to the hole, there's a dance involved

I'm also going to be selfish here and say win one for all of us that are 21 or younger and haven't been alive to witness a Celtics banner being raised.

Definitely also for Red, Reggie and DJ.

Win it for Sam Jones, remember that I am a Celtic show?  You could tell in his voice and see in his eyes the passion that he has for this team, his team, the Celtics.

I also agree with winning it for Mike and Tommy.  I love those guys and it would make them so happy.  They work hard, and are a great team.  I'd love to experience a championship with them covering it on CSN.

Win it for the Big 3.  Or Big 3, win it for yourselves.  They all are great players who deserve a ring.  We will definitely have a lot of Celtics fans in Minnesota, Seattle, and Milwaukee the next two weeks.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

Win it for Marty Conlon (name a Celtic great to win this title for)

I was listening to Celtics stuff live and they came up with a good idea. Name a Celtic from the past 21 years (since the last time the Celtics were in the finals) to win this title for.  Like when the Red sox  were going for their 1st title in 86 years they were saying how it was for all the former red sox players that never won a title.

Well I say win this one for the former Celtic Great Marty Conlon!

Marty Conlon, you mean? ;)

Since we're going with the tongue-in-cheek vibe, win it for Brett Szabo.
