No defending the refs on this one. If this was Kobe or Lebron they would have whistled immediately. Heck, if anyone is within breathing distance of them it is a foul.  ::)

Just saw the replay ... Wow!

I guess we can look at the bright side ... I think the NBA REALLY wants the Celtics vs. Lakers.

Well, definately the Lakers it seems.

Yup. although you could have left out the "it seems" part.

It's non-calls like that, that gives the NBA a bad name. Now it's looks as if the league is trying to get Lakers into the finals.  This doesn't bold well for the Celtics because I think teh league could careless if they got Boston or Detroit in the finals just as long as LA is there.

Boston is a pretty good market but it's not a major market like LA, Chicago, New York, and Houston.  It's one reason why the Bulls have gotten the first pick in the draft twice since Jordan left.  The first time they drafted Elton Brand. To the NBA Chicago is just as big of a market then New York is.

Yes the league need Boston and New York to be relevant.  But they don't need them to be in the finals as long as they got either LA or Chicago in the finals.

Calls, or no calls, you've got to be impressed with the Lakers playoff run.  I really didn't expect them to do this well.  I guess that was just hate-filled wishful thinking my part.

They're pretty clearly the best team in the NBA right now.

Somehow, though, we're going to beat them.  I'm just not sure if we're clinching in LA, or at home in Game 6.

Horrible no call last night. Gasol is no a "defender" too since he can hack and hold with abandon. Heck I could be an all nba defender if I was a Laker. :)

NBA says they made a mistake.

Great.  That helps.

Wasn't that no call that the NBA said was a foul the 2nd game changing "no-call" this playoffs they admitted was wrong....... the first being the clock issue in the Pistons/magic series that gave the Pistons more time to score.......

Even tonight's game was very badly officiated...... that foul on PJ was not a flagrant...

The NBA, Where "apologizing for wrong calls after a game" happens....... the NBA has lost its credibility in officiating

So the NBA apologises for the bad no call, so they are not going to do anything about it? I mean they said it should have been 2 FTs (and we all know it would've been 3 if that was Kobe or Lebron), and the spurs lost by 2 points! They are not doing anything about that? except apologising? Shouldn't they play the last 2 seconds or whatever that was like they did in the regular season for the Heat/Hawks game when the officiating crew accidentally fouled out someone who I think was Shaq ???
Anything is possible!!!

I'd love to see that part of the game played over.

  • Let's Go Celtics
Big, big game tonight.  This will be the most attention I've paid to a non Celtics game all year long.  I think the Lakers are definitely going to win the series, but I'd love to see it go 6 or 7.  The whole rust thing worked in our favor against the Pistons in Game 1, but I think Jackson is a much better coach than Flip and that won't be as much of a problem.  I want the Lakers tested.  If they lose tonight they are in the same situation as us.  Going into game 6 on the road up 3-2 with both teams having won on the road.

We still have A LOT of work to do to make it to the finals, beating the Pistons for a fourth time will need one of our best games of the year no matter where it is played.  However we don't play until tomorrow so we might as well focus on this game and the possible effects it will have on us if we make the finals.

I personally think the Spurs can pull it off.  They have the veteran savvy to win on the road in a crucial game.  They will show some heart and come out firing.  Should be a fun game to watch.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

The difference between the Heat/Hawks screw up and the one the other night was that there is no wiggle room for judgment in the Heat/Hawks situation - it was a cut and dry clerical error.  A bad call , or non-call, can always be passed off as an error in judgment, but there is no perspective that can make counting to 6 debatable.

It's surprising how the Lakers have been able to control this series despite Odom and Gasol struggling to score.

Manu's poor play has likely neutralized the Lakers' bigs poor scoring.
