Lebron doesn't want to foul out. But he's not fouling Pierce because Pierce isn't driving on him. Why isn't Pierce attacking him? To me, it appears that it is because Paul is focusing all his attention on defense hoping that Ray and KG will take care of offense. Well guess what that isn't working.
If that were the case, he wouldn't be taking 17 shots. Look, there's obviously some disconnect with this team when it plays on the road. Although Rondo shot well last night, he has no business taking 14 shots. He needs to penetrate -- that is how he best helps his teammates. Doug Collins touched on this a little last night, but it seems to me that what the Cavs have decided to do is to double up on Ray with Rondo's man. If Rondo takes jumpshots, that just plays into their hands -- because they don't yet respect his shooting ability.
In my opinion, what the Celts need to do is speed up the game. The slow half-court game only really benefits Pierce and Perk, and this is not the series for them; so speed it up -- it helps Rondo, it suits Ray's game a lot more than the slower pace, and it will help KG too because Wallace and/or Z won't be able to keep up with him.
