Detroit on a 19 to 3 run here to blow the game open. Detroit look fan-diddly-tastic.

Billups and Rip are killing Orlando's guards. Sheed and co. is holding down Dwight. This whole game has been about whether Hedo and Rashard Lewis can keep up? For the most part they have but they've gone cold to start the third.

Chauncey is just killing Nelson. He's blowing by him with a level of quickness I didn't think he had anymore. Once he gets even a half a step on Nelson he's strong enough to just hold Jameer on his hip and take it to the rim.

Rip Hamilton is terrorizing the Magic two guards off the ball, they just aren't smart enough to keep track of what he's really trying to do when he uses the screen.

Very impressive

Orlando have done well to stop the bleeding and pull back some of that lead. Detroit lead 65-58 now.

Orlando are only 7-15 from the FT line. Everyone is missing. Dwight Howard looks terrified. Nelson missing. Hedo missing. Orlando were 27th for FT% on the season. They're only 1-10 from downtown also.

Doing well to hold on. This is going to be a good fourth quarter. They need more from Dwight Howard in the paint. Whether it's scoring or rebounds it doesn't matter, they just need more of a presence in the paint.

Hahaha Dooling just got fouled by his own man.  The NBA refs aren't just out to get us, they are truly awful all around. That was one of the most absurd calls I've ever seen in my life.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

I expected Chauncey was going to dominate Nelson in this game(series).

I expected Chauncey to dominate Nelson too. But I didn't expect him to blow by him off the dribble whenever he wanted to. That part of his game has been missing in action for most of the past two years. He's really in great shape, his mobility, agility and quickness is the best I've seen in some time from Chauncey.

This West game is on to late for a Saturday.

Why can't the first game be around 5?  Second game around 8.

And now with the pyros, this game ought to end just in time for the Celtics game to start.

Well the Ring Of Fire has ruined the flow of this game. Talk about an unneccessary pierce of in game entertainment.

Spurs have looked a little vulnerable. They're shooting the ball really well though. Spurs on the other hand have been stymied by the hard doubling of Duncan and solid screen and roll action by the Hornets bigs. Hornets have gotten into their offense better, and have done a better job of getting the types of shots they want.

David West played dumb basketball when Kurt Thomas was in the game. I don't understand what's taking this guy so to learn? Kurt Thomas keeps causing him grief when he tries to post up. On the other hand Kurt Thomas folds like a house of cards whenever West faces up and uses his quickness/shooting abillity to his advantage. He picked it up when Kurt went off and Oberto/Horry tried guarding him.

New Orleans are just so much deeper than San Antonio.

So many more weapons. Stop Paul, then there's West, stop West, then there's Peja, stop Peja then there's Pargo, stop Pargo, then there's Bonzi, stop Bonzi, then there's Mo Pete, stop Mo Pete, then there's Chandler. They just keep coming at you. So many players capable of scoring and scoring from all over the court. The Spurs can't leave anyone open.

Why can't Garnett do what David West does? Tell me what skill West has that Garnett doesn't have? He's killing San Antonio on those midrange shots and odd post ups. Why can't KG do that?

Typical defensive strategy from Byron Scott tonight. His team have doubled Tim Duncan on the catch throughout the game. Force the ball out of the opposition's best player's hands and force the supporting cast to beat you. The Spurs shooters were hot early but they've cooled off since. San Antonio haven't been able to get any easy shots tonight and their offense has been out of rhythm all night long.

Well done Byron Scott and great performances by the players in executing the strategy.

Finley was scared to shoot that 3.  The Hornets will bring out the same flaws in the Spurs that the Hawks have brought out in us, except it will have a bigger effect.

I'm eating my words, as we speak Finley just hit a trey ball.  Oh well, my overall thoughts on the series stay the same.  Hornets in 6.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

Popovich made a horrible decision leaving Brent Barry on the bench for so long tonight. San Antonio are a distinctly mediocre three point shooting team. When they're doubling your best player like that you need shooters on the floor. Brent Barry is by far San Antonio's purest shooter.

Why wasn't he on in the first three quarters?

Should never have happened. They don't win this series without Brent Barry. He doesn't need to score 10-15ppg but they need the threat of his jump shot, they need it to space the floor for Duncan/Manu/Parker. It's been far too easy for the Hornets to cheat defensively and to collapse into the paint against the Spurs.
