Second question, who would want Embiid?  Can anyone offer a realistic deal that some team might offer?

I mentioned in the LeBron to Philly thread that Philly should use Edgecombe to trade Embiid. So the team is trading for Edgecombe and the cost is taking back Embiid's bad contract.

And that maybe together they may have enough value to even get a low level star or disgruntled star. A team that wants to rebuild. They can wait out Embiid's contract and have a player for the future in Edgecombe.

I'll try to think of some ideas for this but this is the framework I was thinking about in terms of trading Embiid.

I'll try to think of some ideas for this but this is the framework I was thinking about in terms of trading Embiid.

Ideas

(1) B Ingram for Embiid & Edgecombe

So Embiid earns $58mil and Edgecombe $11mil. A $69mil package. B Ingram only earns around $40mil so you would need some cap filler. Maybe Derrick Jones Jr ($10.5mil, expiring) and Isaiah Jackson ($7mil, 2yrs). Hmm, maybe Brook Lopez and his expiring deal at $8mil.

G: Maxey, L Philon
G: Jaylen, A Simons
F: B Ingram, (Jaylen)
F: LeBron, Dean Wade
C: B Lopez, I Jackson, A Bona, Hukporti

(2) Zion & J Poole for Embiid & Edgecombe

This would be if NOP wanted to move on from Zion. They have Embiid to mentor D Queen or perhaps play alongside one another as a twin towers alignment. Edgecombe gives them a starting SG for the future to go along with J Fears as their PG of the future. NOP gets to move on from the Zion era.

(3) A Davis & Kyshawn George for Embiid & Edgecombe

I don't know if Kyshawn George is too much. If it is, you could reduce the package. Maybe Bilal Coulibaly instead. If that is too much, you could reduce it again. Go with Will Riley and maybe D Ayton as a cap makeweight.

G: Maxey
G: Jaylen
F: Kyshawn George / Coulibaly
F: LeBron
C: A Davis

If it is Will Riley, you lose that 5th starter. You could go big with Dean Wade. Or play a Dalen Terry or a Justin Edwards. Something like that. Not ideal.

The upside for WAS is that Edgecombe is a better fit as a true SG alongside Dybantsa at SF than either Kyshawn George or Bilal Coulibaly is. They would have A Sarr at PF alongside Embiid at C. Trae Young at PG.

(4) Myles Turner & Tyler Herro for Embiid & Edgecombe

Edgecombe a better long term prospect than T Herro. Embiid a downgrade from M Turner but acceptable in order to get Edgecombe. Philly get a lower level star in Herro and a replacement starting center in M Turner.

G: Maxey
G: T Herro
F: Jaylen
F: LeBron
C: M Turner

I'd love to bring Herro off the bench here but there isn't the personnel for that and Philly already have A Simons off the bench anyway. I worry about how vulnerable that starting backcourt is defensively.

MIL might need a cap makeweight to make the money work. You could put in AJ Green who is a solid but overpaid bench SG and has 4 years left on his deal. So MIL would get out of a bad contact giving more value to them. If MIL do not require more value, you could get an expiring contract (LeVert) back instead. PHI might need to add an additional small contract or two to avoid the hard cap in that case.

(5) Sacramento could do a few different configurations for Edgecombe and Embiid

D Sabonis & Keegan Murray
D Sabonis & DeAndre Hunter
D Sabonis & Malik Monk

I don't think there is a way to get Zach LaVine & D Sabonis in the deal together. They make $95mil.

That would give Philly a replacement center / low level star in D Sabonis and another starter / key bench piece in the 2nd player in the deal.

Reason for SAC is to get Edgecombe. They are going nowhere with their current personnel. Sacrifice some cap flexibility while beginning the rebuild with Edgecombe. They may need to keep Keegan Murray. DeAndre Hunter is an expiring deal and would be a strong bench forward for Philly. Or Malik Monk who has 2 years to go who is a strong bench SG. Maybe they could nab Nique Clifford as well if they are taking Monk or D Hunter. Another rotation caliber SG. Philly need that.

(6) Toronto

I was trying to figure out a deal here but I didn't land with one I felt comfortable with. I still feel there might be something here. So I was thinking of RJ Barrett & Quickley for Embiid & Edgecombe. Or RJ Barrett & J Poeltl. I was wondering could get all 3 pieces RJ Barrett, Quickley, Poeltl with Philly kicking in another piece.

Maybe Quickley & Poeltl by themselves although that would be a disappointing package. Probably not worth giving up Edgecombe for that. Yeah, not worth it. Quickley, Poeltl, Ja'Kobe Walter. Em, no, still not worth it. I doubt TOR give up Colin Murray Boyles. They lack other young pieces. Not sure they have any useful picks left after the Kawhi trade either.

I don't know if it is worth it for TOR. Gambling on Embiid when they feel they are so close to a title with Kawhi back. I am not sure they want to pay RJ Barrett and both Quickley & Poeltl are bad contracts. Quickley has injury issues too. So there is some movement there but I am not sure it is enough for them to bite on Embiid.

(7) Phoenix - Jalen Green & Miles Bridges (or Dillon Brooks) & Ighodaro for Embiid & Edgecombe.

A lesser package. No low level star. Jalen Green and either Bridges or D Brooks gives Philly two 30-35 minute starters / key bench pieces. Jalen Green could replace Edgecombe as a starting SG. The forward could be a 6th man for Philly. Ighodaro gives Philly another center to go along with A Bona & Hukporti. Bridges / D Brooks gives them a long term player post-LeBron to play alongside Jaylen at forward. 6th man in the immediate sense but long term starter. Two long term starters.

[8]D Bane & Suggs for Embiid & Edgecombe

Bane would give them a replacement starting SG for Edgecombe. Suggs a 6th man. Maybe you can package Suggs somewhere else for a starting quality center.

Maybe D Bane & Wendell Carter Jr & Anthony Black. ORL keep Suggs. Start Edgecombe at SG. F Wagner & Banchero at forward. Embiid at center. PHI get a starting center to replace Embiid. D Bane as their low level star. They need a cap makeweight to make the numbers work. ORL do not have many options. A Black is here. Or maybe later in the season they could use J Isaac instead.

ORL may not consider this deal until later in the season if their year is going badly for them. Then it may become more attractive to them. Around mid-season / trade deadline time.

(9) Dallas

Could Dallas do something?

Edgecombe & Cooper Flagg. Kyrie & Embiid as vets.

A package around D Gafford, PJ Washington, Klay's expiring deal and maybe Max Christie. Max Christie would be Philly's new starting SG. Gafford their new starting C. PJ Washington an elite bench forward. Klay some cap flexibility.

Dallas would still have D Lively as cover for Embiid. They also have Risacher, S Aldama & Naji Marshall as forwards around Cooper Flagg. Edgecombe fills their hole at SG.

This would be a lower value return for PHI. No low level star. But 3 legit rotation pieces in Gafford, PJ Washington, Max Christie. All 3 capable of being starters. PJ Washington the only clear cut starter. The other two are more borderline options. PJ Washington & Max Christie would be a good boost to their defensive quickness & aggressiveness. Gafford fills those empty center minutes.

(10) Atlanta

I am trying to find a package that may make sense. ATL have a lot of different pieces to play with.

I am thinking of NAW as the low level star replacement. Edgecombe as the younger brighter prospect to replace him for ATL. Edgecombe and Kingston Flemings as their backcourt of the future to play alongside Jalen Johnson for the next 10-12 years. NAW will turn 28 years old in September so a bit older. Refreshes the team for a longer window.

Then you have Dyson Daniels ($25mil) or Lu Dort ($18mil) as a 2nd piece & cap filler. Then Buddy Hield ($9mil). And Corey Kispert who has a bad contract with 2-3yrs at $13mil per. So with Daniels, that is $47mil to go with NAW's $14mil to take us to around $61mil. Philly sending out $69mil. Close for salaries.

ATL has Okongwu who can return to a 6th man role behind Embiid and replace Embiid as a starting center when Embiid is out. They have McCollum as a scoring guard / vet mentor for Edgecombe & Kingston Flemings. They keep one of D Daniels or Lu Dort to be their starting SF. Maybe they decide to keep Kuminga as a bench forward to replace whoever leaves. That is an interesting group. More shape, more definition, for their long term future with Edgecombe over NAW.

PHI gets NAW as their starting SG / glue guy in between Maxey & Jaylen. They get a backup wing in D Daniels / Dort. And then sunk money in Buddy Hield & Corey Kispert. No replacement center for Embiid.
