Mavs and Dusty May got my guy in Koa Peat.  He is going to have a great career.

So we are going to have 2 roster spots with raw young bigs in Amari and Chris Cenac.

Can we really afford to use another roster spot on a third 3rd string center in Luka Garza? Or is this the end of Garza?

Cenac Jr is a PF, though.

He's got more than enough size to play center as well.

I wonder if they would have picked Reed before the Spurs got him

Interesting pick by Brad.

Cenac is 6?11/240lbs. Good athlete. Jabari Smith Jr type?

Body is kinda Tatumish.

Waaaaaay longer wingspan. 7'5 vs 7'0 for Tatum.

Wow.  That?s some wingspan!
Yup

I think a developmental big man with some shooting potential is a good pick. He has decent size and some nice physical traits, just needs some time to put it together.

So Dallas have

Starter: Kyrie, M Christie, Flagg, PJ Washington, Lively
Bench: B Williams, Klay, Naji, Morez Johnson, D Gafford
3rd string: R Nembhard, AJ Johnson, Koa Peat, C Martin, D Powell

Interesting team. Lotta depth.

Not saying he doesn?t have enough size, but that?s not what his position has been. He is a forward.

Interesting pick. I hadn't watched much tape on him, but there's a lot to like. He's definitely a smooth athlete. Competed well on perimeter defense as part of the Houston blitzing system. Good shooter. I fully expect him to be able to stretch the floor out to the 3 point line right away.

All reports are that he is a great kid with a great attitude. Top 10 high school ranking/blue chip talent.

Relatively unproductive in his lone college season. He was the anchor inside for one of the best teams in the country, but his counting stats aren't great. But I guess there's a reason he fell in the draft. Counting stats seem like the reason.

He might be the gem in this draft like Hugo was last year. There's a world where we have a very deep team if we hit a homerun on this pick, Amari figures out how to give us more minutes, Harper signs long-term, and the Baylor/Hugo combo keeps developing.

I mean, he played all his minutes at center (or if you prefer, he was the defensive anchor) in college. He didn't play next to another big at all.

That's what I see. The difference between a player like this, and Raynaud from last year, is that Cenac Jr. also has the tools/on-court production to project a very solid defender if everything works out.

I think it is unclear what role he will fit into in the NBA, and his tweener risk is one cause of his fall.  He could be someone capable of multiple roles, but he could also be someone who is not quite capable of filling any.

That is ugly feeling I get watching his highlights / looking at his stats.

(1) He doesn't know how to be a true big man.
(2) His skill level is too low to play forward.

I don't know. He did anchor one of the best defenses in the country this past college season.

Offensively he wasn't super productive, but I think tweeners become tweeners because you can't rely on them to anchor your defense. If a guy can anchor your defense, you can put up with him only spotting up from 3 and limited offensive skillsets.

Sergio de Larrea looks nice. Lakers got a player there. He should fit in well next to Luka & A Reaves. High IQ, tall ball-handler, playmaking, outside shooting.
