I saw a lot of the footage on social media of Knicks fans ripping Jerseys off of people wearing Spurs gear, then many got beat up. I am really at a loss for words with what I saw. I mean NYC was not a safe place last night, especially for Spurs fans. I have only seen one game in NYC, it was a Giants game and there was a fight in the seats behind me. I am not saying this only happens in NYC, but man that scene was out of control and the police seemed not to be able to do anything about it. We all love our teams, but why beat up fans of the opposing team and not let them wear a jersey? Makes no sense to me. I have seen the Celtics a lot and I am not going to say the fans are better or worse, but I always felt safe at a Celtics game. Just wondering what people think can be done?? I mean it takes 2 teams to have game?? So why would there not be fans of both teams there? I guess this skirts the line of Politics pretty easily, people rights vs people being safe. I just felt this should be mentioned on our site! We need to respect the fans of all teams.

I'm not sure that crime fighting is super high on the priority list of the current mayor.  But, in general, you need an active, engaged police presence outside and similarly active security (not just ushers) inside.

They look worse than Eagles fans.

This series is guaranteed to go back to San Antonio, so those Knicks fans will have to watch their backs now if they are traveling. Texas is crazy after all lol

Posted it in another thread but win or lose, New York is gonna destroy itself

Remember the 2011 Vancouver riots after the Stanley Cup loss to Boston in Game 7? I see the same thing happening in NY whether they win or lose, and police/forces won't be able to neutralize it initially either, those fans are WILD

There were some crazy fights even in the watch party they had at Bryant Park which was free but you had to register to get in, and had security presence. Despite that, didn't stop any fights from materializing

I genuinely think higher forces are gonna be needed at the end of the Finals, as in an order or troops being sent from the President and the White House. No way NYPD and the local forces can handle it alone.

In all seriousness though, I am actually worried about the possibilities of people even dying from these fights or brawls. In some of these clips people are using objects and some people have blood. If it escalates further and say, NY loses the Finals it could get very very bad.

That's perfect timing for Trump to deploy his troops/feds

Something has to be done! It is just a game and people should always be able to feel safe!!
Then! The are those over the top celebrities that stand on the court like the are more important than all the truly hard working fans that can?t even afford a ticket! Yes, LA and other teams have this happen, but I am sorry, Spike Lee and all the other celebrities act like they have WAY more right to be there than the average fan. I find that disgusting! We are all fans, you are not more important because you can pay $70k to be on the floor.
Then that display after the game outside!! I just hate this in sports!! It just feel wrong and dirty to me, all of it.

Is this what sports has become?? Really? It was always for the average person!! To distract them from their often hard and frustrating life! Now, it is becoming something I don?t recognize anymore.
