Trey Murphy fits TPE. Finacial implications?

 So theoretically , we could keep derek white, and offer a combination of Hugo, Hauser, Pritchard which i believe the Pelicans can absorb,  plus two or three firsts if we want to make a serious offer for Murphy.

 My question is how would this effect the Apron this year and next if we keep the core together.

Your trade would keep the Celtics below the apron and tax this year.  If the Celtics only sent Hauser and picks, they would be above the tax but remain below the apron.  (Not saying Pels would go for that, just saying how not difficult it is to afford him).

I do not think Murphy will actually be moved, but he is absolutely my #1A target.

Would love to have Murphy if they address the issue at big. Queta is just a second center type of guy.

Now a line up of Tatum, White, Brown, Murphy and a center the sign would be a great starting 5.

You are incorrect.  The TPE is $27.7 million, and Murphy makes $27 million next year.  To make salaries work they would only need to move Hauser or Pritchard because Murphy would take them about $3 million over the apron.

Hauser and a first for TM3 would be a good deal but may take two 1st as well as Hugo too. What's the max people would give up for TM3?

Celtics were apparently linked to Zion recently.  Badically White, Hauser, and picks for Zion.  I can see how that trade may in theory work, but the team would almost certainly need to move Brown or Tatum and get a guard to have that make sense

Yes it does.  Tried it before I posted.  Make sure you have the league year selected for next year.   You can just send NOP Hauser, and send Murphy to the Celtics via the TPE.

I am sure the Pels would need multiple picks.  Probably whomever we pick at 27, the first next year, and 2031.  It would likely help if we found someone who wanted Hauser as well to route him there instead and give them even more draft compensation.  I would not give Hugo if we gave the 2031 pick.

I know this rumor was started by Simmons, and I would be very surprised if New Orleans moves Murphy because why?  That said, I do not think highly of their front office, so it is less impossible than it should be that he is moved.

Giannis in a deal involving White and Hauser.  I think that deal is even less probable than Murphy, however.

Yeah...unless they feel PP can start. But they would need to address a real guard in FA if this happens.

Just to continue down this road a little more.  Presumably the Celtics will cut Banton over the summer.  If they were somehow able to make a Hauser-Murphy trade happen, and replaced Banton on the roster with pick 40, they would be about $1.5 million over the tax.  At the deadline, it would likely not be difficult to move 1 or 2 players from the list of Scheierman, Harper Jr., Walsh, Williams, and Shulga who had fallen out of or were never in the rotation and replace them with a rest-of-season signing, ducking under the tax.

I know there are people out there who want a center (and I am among them), but a world where we swap out Hauser for Murphy, stay under the tax, and get rid of the repeater before some extensions kick in the next two seasons is the type of move that both both extends the title window while making a title itself that much more possible. 

And now I am done because I know that Murphy is not going to shuffle up to Boston no matter how hard I might wish it.

Very few can financially fit Murphy.  New Orleans is very near the tax line, so taking a bunch of bad salary would likely require a premium in most other offers.
