He?s trying to say that it was a med for mental health. Then why are you not appealing? Lol

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

The suspension will cost George roughly $11.7 million of his $51.7 million salary, or about $469,691.72 for each of the 25 games missed.

So who gets the money?  Does PHI just not pay him or does George pay it to the league (I assume after paying taxes on it as income).  So this goes to the owners?

Nobody gets the money...it just doesn't get paid. It's cancelled compensation. The team doesn?t keep it. The league doesn?t take it. Because the player never earns it. Like unpaid leave.

Incidentally, their cap is also reduced by the same amount, which will help them for luxury tax purposes, but they cannot use that cap space to pick up another player, or get a DPE.

That's his excuse. If he wanted to use it as a legitimate reason he needed to apply for a Therapeutic Use Exemption beforehand, which he didn't, which is why he's not appealing.

"I take full responsibility" and then dropping an excuse like that tend cancel each other out.

It goes to charity. Or at least that is what they used to do with suspension money. Team doesn't keep it. They still have to pay.

Yeah, I saw that on the Schroder trade. He was was suspended this year and lost something like $150k which will give CLE around $850k in luxury tax savings.

Just to clarify, that's fine money. That goes to charity. Suspension money is never paid out, so there's nothing to go anywhere. It's less complicated that way to avoid distorting incentives and things like that.

Yes, and the benefit for the Sixers will be that they can make some moves to convert a couple of their two-ways - Barlow and Walker - to full contracts so they can play in the playoffs if required. If they were signed today to prorated vet mins, it would come out to approx. $1.95M total for both.

They need to get to somewhere between $1.5-1.9M under the tax (send out somewhere between $2.8 and $3.2M) in order to sign both Barlow and Walker to prorated vet mins and remain under the tax line and save Josh Harris some $$$. So maybe they dump Gordon and someone else, maybe Broome?
