The buzz is teams are already calling SAC about Sabonis

Is there a chance Stevens could entice the Kings?

Trade could look something like -

SAC gets: Anfernee Simons, Sam Hauser, Hugo Gonzalez, 2026 1st, 20271st (Top 10 protected)
BOS gets: Domantas Sabonis

I know other teams could probably offer much better packages, but you never - especially when youre talking about the team who traded Haliburton to build around Fox, then traded Fox for peanuts. One of the most incompetent franchises in all of sports. Maybe their ineptitude could work in our favor?

I have always been a DS admirer and think he would fit great next to the J?s.

We are only allowed to trade one of our 2026 and 2027 picks, not both.

I would support acquiring Sabonis for something near the price you suggest.  I would like to get Devin Carter, who is being wasted on the bench, into deal too, somehow, especially if we?re giving up Hugo.

He is a poor defender folks his DEF rating this year is 115.   Offensively and rebounding wise he is a great fit but ask yourself this how many of his teams have made good playoff runs?

He makes too much for this team and doesn't play enough defense.

Hopefully another team that wants to trade him need a third team to help make it work and the Celtics find a way to peal off another big man the can strengthen that part of the rotation going forward.

new CBA has nothing to do with it.  it's the old Stepien rule.

Idk - you look around the league at some of the impactful bigs the Celtics could realistically acquire and the pickings are slim.

Nicolas Claxton
Daniel Gafford
Naz Reid
Nikola Vucevic

None of those guys move the needle much for this team, especially with what wed have to give up to get them.
I almost put Jaren Jackson on the list but that seems a tad unrealistic - also doesnt help our rebounding problem haha.
I think Sabonis would be the best option.

Yup, youre right. Somehow I have been following the NBA for 2 decades and wasnt aware of that rule, even though it?s been around since 1983. Had to google it, haha.

I think you have to keep the 2026 pick
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

If he can turn into a 20/15 machine I'll do it. Just teach him defense.

I'll still take him since we don't have any reliable starting bigs.

Sacramento's been a lousy franchise, I'm sure he'll thrive with true superstar/All-Stars on this team.

I have always thought that Sabonis would be and ideal PF to play with Tatum.  I don't think his defense is all that bad, playing as a PF (I like him at PF, not C).  He can score inside and outside, rebounds, hustles, I like him.  Would allow BOS to move Tatum to wing.  The salary is the issue.  Probably have to trade White, but I would be OK with that.  I think Sabonis has more value.

But I don't see how a trade could work.  The following players work financially:

White and Simons
for
Sabonis and Devon Carter

But I don't see SAC being so interested in these players, so it would have to be at least a 3-way deal with White going to a contender (maybe HOU) and young players and picks going to SAC from that team.  BOS would then look as follows:

Pritchard
Brown
Tatum
Sabonis
Queta

...with a pretty weak bench (Hauser, Garza, Minott, Hugo, and so on).  I like the size of that unit, I see enough scoring/creation to cover up for Queta's lack of offense.  That unit would not give up many ORebs at least.  All 5 players are at least good rebounders for their positions (even Pritchard).  BOS would have to go out and get some guard depth, but that is generally easier than going out and finding PF or C depth.

I'm not so sure of that.  First I don't know how you define reliable but keep in mind that Q is doing a nice job as our center.  While he is only playing 23 min/game his per 36 looks pretty good....13.4pts,12.2rebs,2.1blcks, and 1.2 steals.  Not great but I think he is a reasonable starting center. Oh, and I forgot he only averages 1 turnover/game.
