White so far this season is 10 for 35 on three pointers. Pritchard is 4 for 22.

Combined, the starting Celtics guards are 14 for 57 from three point land, or 24.6%.

If they shoot their career average the Celtics might be 2-1.

Yes, they are a terrible rebounding team, and yes their defense is unreliable, and yes they lack a lot of talent, and yes most of these players have never played together before this season.

But still, they could have won two of the games so far. This team is only a few players and consistent play from doing all right.

Why even bother coming up with explanations and what ifs for this team?
They?re likely a lottery team, the league is loaded with better teams, it?s going to hard to get wins against the worst teams in the league on any given night and frankly it?s what they deserve after selling off there contending roster to save the owners money
this is what we do with online posting and here at CS, isn't it? We post. We give thoughts and opinions. simply because the celtics look to have a poor team this year doesn't mean we don't post.

also, even though this team has serious flaws, it could very well have 1 or 2 wins now.

You?re right? I just don?t see defending this team or bothering with the woulda coulda shoulda won had we done XYZ?we are a bad team that will be in the lottery.

I suppose it's because different people have different motivations for posting here. Some people might enjoy analyzing why we are bad, and how we could be better, irrespective of where we end up. It's like how some people enjoy taking a drive to enjoy the journey, not just as a means to an end to get somewhere.

It could be that you are more end-result oriented, from my observation you tend to be a glass-half-empty person, you tend to be down on the team even when they play well, so having a bad team this year probably exacerbates that, and when the team is bad you it could be you aren't as interested in discussion as when the team is good or you feel it's pointless.

Conversely, other people might be more interested when the team is bad, because there are all sorts of little personal storylines they find fascinating. I admit I'm in the latter category, this year in particular - I'm interested in who steps up, who responds, including Joe. I'm less interested in whether they win or not.

Regardless, differing opinions are what make CS a great community, you have your optimists, you have your pessimists, you have people who just care about results, you have people who care about process, and it all mixes together to provide a different set of perspectives. If we only posted if the team is good then this would become a fair-weather-fan site that would be dead during rebuilding or reset years.  :police:

I?m fine with this and fine with analyzing a bad team?I just can?t see the delusional green land where we are somehow gonna be a good team once Payton Pritchard and Derrick white shoot better. We are just a bad team, a quick glance around the league highlight watching and roster construction arguably  the  worst team in the league

Not sure there is anyone arguing that the Celtics are currently a good team.  I think some of us expect it to settle in at about  .500 but that could be too high a guess. I don?t think there is a soul here who is optimistic about 2025-26.

Some of us do like to look for silver linings.  And those who do like the the look of Hugo and Minott, and have some faith in Brad to build a much better team upon Tatum?s return.  Some of us will be excited for a high lottery pick if it turns out that we?re not a 500 team but more like a 25 win team.   There is entertainment to be had depending on one?s mindset.

you should go back and look at the thread for preseason predictions.  the majority were predicting a winning record and playoff team.  very few (me being one) were pointing out the obvious flaws of the poor quality of bigs, the massive rebounding issues and lack of defense and that this team would wind up with 34-37 wins. After seeing the first 3 games I may have been too generous with the win projection

Think most of us predicted being a play-in team? And, of course, the east is bad, and there have only been three games - beware the small sample size kraken.
