The score was 66-70 OKC lead after TJ McConnell hit a baseline pull up J with under 4 minutes to play in Q3.
Since then OKC has outscored Indy 14-2 in the last 5min of game time to build a 16pt lead.
A lot of that damage came when Indy sat Nembhard. They took him out at 3:19 to play Q3. The score was still 66-70. They brought Nembhard back in at 0:35 Q3. OKC was up 79-68.
Indy had trouble bringing the ball up court and getting into their offense without a 2nd ball-handler out there. TJ had a stupid turnover at midcourt. Toppin took it up the next time, didn't run offense, drove instead, then forced a shot. Miss.
The lineup was McConnell - Sheppard - Nesmith - Toppin - T Bradley.
At least after those two disaster plays they took out T Bradley and brought in Mathurin. So Toppin as the lone big. Then 3 wings with limited handles / passing. One ball-handler. Score was 75-66. OKC win the final 2:20 at a score of 4-3 to make it 79-68.
They cannot afford to play only 1 ball-handler. It is too big of a risk agains this trapping OKC defense that is so good at forcing mistakes / turnovers.
Nembhard and McConnell gotta stay on the court the rest of the way.
