Welp

my reaction exactly.  so I guess Roy was right when he posted the 'there is a lot of past tense in the comments from Joe'.

I am disappointed, I wanted a nice offensive sparkplug for games when we are down some players, but Brad and Joe know way more than us....still.

Any injury to Holiday, White or Pritchard and we will regret this.

Springer has no offensive skills and hasn't improved in this area since we picked him up.

Scheierman is 25 and he is supposed to be a shooter but his shot is just plain ugly and awkward.  Why are we keeping him?

Yep. Hate it. Must have been the money as Walker is much better than those two. Smh

I think his lack of defense is why they didn't sign him. He doesn't seem to understand that end of the floor.

Nah.  He was the 15th spot on a 14 man roster, and the one guy without a guaranteed contract.

Same said of Kornet and Hauser at one point.  Pritchard too much of a liability on D to put on the court. Nesmith can?t shoot and out of control.  Up till about a week ago, Walsh was a bust.  Idk - he has NBA defensive skills and he?s still very young.

The Lonnie Walker situation was pretty simple. Having him on the team on a guaranteed contract to start the season would cost the C's something like 11 million extra dollars in salary+ taxes. They weren't going to pay that for an end of bench guy.

Its not a Springer vs Wlaker situation. Springer is under a 4.5 million dollar guaranteed deal, to get off his money he'd have to be traded. Meanwhile Walker could just be cut. It's unfortunate because Lonnie flashed, but he was a tax casualty.

So, why did they even bring him to camp?

Plausible deniability? And/or a chance to really evaluate him up close.

If he's one of our last cuts, he'll probably end up signing with the Maine Celtics which keeps him in the system
I'm bitter.

Could be - I haven't paid too much attention to the changes in the relationship between the D/G league and the NBA over the last few seasons, so I'm not really sure of the intricacies there.

Yeah, if he clears waivers and ends up in Maine, it's plausible that we can sign him later while taxing millions in salary and tax.

It's too bad we traded for Springer last season.  We're paying twice the minimum for a non-NBA player.

People complained when the Celtics didn?t trade for bad players because they wanted contracts to trade.  Now they have Springer on a high but not outrageous contract and everyone still complains.  I am not that worried about not keeping Walker.  We will see how that turns out.  Springer may still help the team or help with a trade. I like his defense. He is still very young.
