Milwaukee's 2 prior seasons ended because they had no one that could take pressure off of Giannis offensively especially at the end if games.  They needed a guy that could close out games and once Middleton got hurt, they didn't have that guy.  All the defense in the world didn't matter because they couldn't score enough. Couple that with Jrue being able to enter free agency and Milwaukee not being a market in which they can realistically overpay, the trade for Lillard makes sense. And who knows what might have been this year had they not hired Griffin (or stuck with him) and had Giannis not gotten hurt.  Perhaps they go on a Finals run if Giannis was out there (I'd have still favored Boston, but Giannis is a poor matchup for us when they have a guy like Lillard next to him).
