Robinson absolutely played it up, but it was an earned flagrant. If roles were reversed and it was one of our guys, this board would've been on fire.

That was 100% a dirty move by Jaylen and I was actually a little surprised it wasn't a flagrant 2.  You can't rip people's arms like that, no matter how frustrated you are.  I love Jaylen but I hope that garbage doesn't happen again.

It started because Robinson was grabbing Jaylen's arm!

And Jaylen cannot respond like that.  Again:  it doesn't matter how frustrated you are.  Robinson was constantly bumping, nudging, grabbing.  Absolutely agree.  That doesn't give you the right to try to injure him.  Period.

The C’s have finally learned to show up against this team. That is much different than previous years. It would still be a dogfight of a series but I feel much more comfortable with their chances against them now.

KP and Holiday make a huge difference.

Surprised Oshae only played 2 minutes, not surprised that Luke only played 2 minutes.

He wasn't hurt even though he pretended to be. I guess the faking it thing is over.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
JBs 6 turnovers hurt.

His flagrant foul that led to a 5 point surely didn't help.

It obviously hurt us big time, but to our credit we didn't wilt and executed when we needed to.  Sign of a good team to pull these games out.  Tatum came up with the big plays.

Robinson really grabbed that arm like he was hurt. Fell down and grabbed it in pain but after he got the call he was fine! The NBA rewards bad acting. That's the new motto for the NBA.

We wouldn't get that call.

Lol. Okay.

Tatum was getting mugged all night and only got the intentional foul.

What does that have to do with Jaylen throwing a player to the ground directly in front of the ref after the play was over?

I get the green colored glasses, but let's be for real.

FWIW, my Dad was saying the same thing and I agree, I loved seeing Jaylen just go at Robinson and the team showing some fight. The shoulder push given the positioning was a bit dangerous and could have led to injury, yes, but enough of this "buddy buddy", "finesse" stuff. I wish these guys would play and act tough on the court. Go after contact and just be aggressive.

Say what you will but I thought Denver took the leap last season doing the same. Murray and Jokic just started playing tough and just going at their opponents and occasionally jawing at them.

Miami is built like that too. Even though I think their "Heat Culture" slogan and marketing of it is pathetic, that is still a tough-nosed team with tough players.

Yes but when 'tough' goes too far, it's a foul.  Jaylen felt Robinson's arm and yanked himself away with Robinson's arm in an awkward position.  I'm not sure it hurt as much as Duncan played it but it could have been an unnecessary injury.  It's all well and good to be tough, but like it or not we're in 2024 and guys are hugely paid entertainers and the reality of sports in this era is that players are protected more than they used to be.  Either it still entertains you or it doesn't.

It stopped just short of a flagrant 2 because it was clear (at least from my perspective) that Jaylen didn't actually try to hurt him.  It was more of a "get off me" message to a weaker player.

I hate dirty players, but JB isn't dirty and it wasn't really a dirty play.  I actually liked that he sent a middle finger to Robinson and the Heat.

JBs 6 turnovers hurt.

turnovers, poor shot selection, and missed free throws.

8-16, 20 points and 9 boards.   The FT misses were excruciating.

his play in crunch time was worse than the box score would indicate. the missed free throws, turnovers, poor shot selection, and the stupid flagrant could have cost the game. i get that you like jb, but in games like today, he can be a huge liability.

Not our players. Not Tatum!

I wonder how many minutes Tillman and Springer would have played today?  Not sure we'd have seen Springer, but I think Tillman would have had a role.  Looking forward to seeing both of them on the court!

I would love to see Springer on Herro. I'd also love to see Tillman out there as the second big cause he can guard up and down.

The Rondo-Wade incident and Olynyk-Love come to mind. It was definitely a flagrant. Just glad they didn't make it a Flagrant 2. But still, I loved just seeing Jaylen jawing at Robinson during the entire sequence. This team needs to be tough out there and assert themselves. Nothing is gonna get spoon-fed to them. If you wonder why teams like Golden State, Miami, Denver, etc. have made and/or won multiple Finals in recent years, it's not just talent, it's also being tough and not wilting under pressure.

while i understand and agree with your larger point, jaylen’s version of toughness won’t win us any games, and will likely lose us playoff games. if you’re going to get physical and jaw at opposing players (to your point, similar to denver and GS), you must back it up with quality play. like it or not, jaylen acted tough but wilted in crunch time.

Duncan Robinson has an even more punchable face after today

Bam flopped all day and got every call. Miami was beyond handsy and physical with JT and no calls. None.

Bam punched KP in the sack and they called the foul on KP.

This heat culture BS is a false narrative. They are nothing but frauds. They cheat, cry and whine their way into calls
