I wouldn't detect shooting as JB's biggest deficit, but his bad offensive decisions. Like, forcing his shooting, dribbling, bad passing and clutch moments when I can't remember was at least once successfull.
His biggest impact is defense. Last night how he deflected Bam around 5min in 4th q. was for the books. And we know how good Bam is.
I simply resigned myself to the fact that his offensive habits would never change.

Or sometimes certain teams just get under certain players skin and they play poorly against them.  JB had a bit of a meltdown, probably from getting fouled over and over again the whole 2nd half just like JT did.   Then when Robinson pushed him to far with the arm lock.

Special rules for certain players. Draymond can hold on every possession. He fouled AGAIN with .07 seconds left and would continue to foul him. Refs were never gonna call it. He also can throw his arms all around and yell at the ref.

The Celtics are going to have to figure out how to get over being fouled on every possession by weaker teams .

Interesting fact: Brown has the worst on-and-off numbers on the Celtics. Also Brown has the worst win shares per 48 minutes of anyone except Mykhailiuk and almost the worst shooting efficiency (barely topping Brissett).

On-Off per 100 possessions, at least 200 minutes played:

Queta +9.1 (283 minutes)
White +6.8
Tatum +2.6
Hauser +1.9
Porzingis +1.1
Horford +1.0
Pritchard +0.7
Brissett -1.0
Holiday -4.1
Kornet -5.6
Brown -7.7

I don't get all this brown disrespect. his only sin is he's not as good as tatum. but we are not the #1 seed in the NBA without him.

half this board wanted Dame Lillard instead....look how that is working out for milwaukee....would you trade their places now?

And if a ref calls all those holds foul and gets players like Draymond fouled out . That ref will ultimately loses his job in the NBA .   It’s a show as much as sport.

Most of the hate likely stems from his contract. If he were on KP-like money, I think people would feel a lot more comfortable. He's obviously still a very good player, but let's be honest, he's replaceable on this team by any number of borderline all-stars or high end starters in this league.

Even disregarding contract for moment, if Boston fans were to choose who they could keep among KP, White, and Brown; it's likely Brown would come in 3rd.

I'm not trying to bash Brown in his own appreciation thread, I really am more than happy to keep him moving forward.

I think fans would be very disappointed at KP or White as their number 2 player.  Brown gets compared to Tatum because he’s the obvious number 2 — KP and White would quickly lose their luster if compared to Tatum every night.  And I’m a huge D White fan.

Perhaps, but then #2 Jrue from the Bucks last year would then move up to #4 on the Celtics. We're not talking KP on the Wizards or White on the Spurs; there would still be a lot of help. Maybe those guys would actually be All-Stars. We as Celtics fans know they deserve it.

Besides, I wasn't talking about removing Jaylen from the team entirely, I was saying he was replaceable. I think we will need to start looking at contract implications soon and that $60M/yr is pretty killer. If you could eventually land another player like KP or White for half the amount Jaylen is getting paid, then you don't really lose much in terms of your on the court product.

Again, this is not an assault on Jaylen - he deserves his all-star nod and he is quite impactful out there - I just don't personally think he is worth his contract.

I think KP might be the Celtics most important player after Tatum. He has a huge impact in the paint on both ends, but can also stretch the floor. JT mentioned that the C’s adding Porzingis is similar to when LA made the trade for Pau Gasol. If I had to choose between the two, I’d take KP over JB. It is a tough call, though.

I agree and it isn't like Brown has been a picture of health so KP missing games isn't as big deal when comparing to Brown verse someone like Tatum that rarely misses games.

Your missed game point doesn't make sense to me, maybe I'm missing something.  PP is the only player on the team that has played in all 55 games.  Brown has missed 5 games and Tatum has missed 3 games.

why do I care what Wyc pays for Jaylen Brown? what you think of him as a player shouldn't be impacted by the fact that he was paid what the "market" said he was worth.

he's already not even the top paid player anymore. and will keep moving down that list with each and every offseason.

I mean Anthony davis is already paid more than Brown...
