I hope the injury isn’t serious. But man, he’s really so fragile. He’s not even playing big minutes for Portland. My wish for him is to get healthy and be traded to a team that could use him. Portland is a bad fit for Rob.

Portland Trail Blazers center Robert Williams III will require right knee surgery, sources tell ESPN. Conversations with doctors and his agent are ongoing about the kind of procedure necessary for Williams and how long of a timeline will be needed for recovery.

I’m just happy that he got that 4/54M contract extension a couple of years ago. I don’t know how his next contract would look like. That will depend on how healthy he could be. So much promise only to be sucked out by injuries.

You knew it as soon as you saw the injury last night with how he was pointing at it.

Hate to see it for Rob. Injuries are going to really impact his longevity and ability to secure another big/long contract.

Also, Portland is looking dumb now for holding onto him. Could’ve got another first round pick for him from a team like, say, the Grizzlies who really need a big like him given their injuries. Having him with Ayton never really made sense longer-term, but now they’re stuck with him and out that asset.

As for us, further legitimizes the Jrue deal.

I feel bad for him, but 54M isn’t too bad for a guy in his mid-20’s. If he doesn’t make a penny more, he just might still be ok financially.  What I really hope is that he’s got his head in a good place and in addition to working at getting back on the court, he’s considering life after b-ball and what that could be like for him. Hope he has good friends and family.

This was all too predictable.

Guess we know why Brad had no problem including him in the deal for Holiday.

Imagine at this point if Rob was getting surgery and Philly/Miami had Holiday?

I like Rob and this sucks for him. Unfortunately, big guys who rely on their legs and have knee issues when they're young...they tend not to have long careers.  On the other hand, $54 million is certainly nothing to sneeze at. If he manages it properly, he's set for life, so he was able to cash in on his talent.

Obviously he doesn't actually get nearly that much (taxes, agent, etc) but you'd have to be an idiot not to be set for life.

Really hate that he's injured again but he can still have a long career.
